1990 - The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, is released from a South Carolina
jail after serving 15 months of a six-year sentence for drug charges.

1992 - Singer Lenny Kravitz and former Cosby Show star Lisa Bonet break up.

1997 - The Fugees embark on a two concert homecoming in Haiti to raise money
for Haitian refugees. The concert ends up costing more money than it raises,
but in terms of raising consciousness, the cost/benefit ratio is not
quantifiable.
