It sounds like more like Paul Carrack than Mike, but pre-dates the Mechanics
by a year. Could this be Mike and Paul's first collaboration?
Incidentally, an album worth having for Genesis fans, having not just Mike
and Phil, but Peter as well.
Many thanks for any help!

From those two wiki entries, it looks like it's Mike himself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acting_Very_Strange
"Acting Very Strange is an album by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford.
It was released in 1982 and was the only solo album by Rutherford that
featured him on lead vocals"
"Availability
Acting Very Strange is currently out of print and not easy to find. It
may, however, be finally re-released by Rhino Records in the United
States and Canada, and Virgin Records worldwide.[citation needed] This
release will contain bonus tracks, such as rare 12" remixes of the
title track and "Couldn't Get Arrested", and maybe even "Making a Big
Mistake", which was one of three Genesis solo tracks on the soundtrack
to Against All Odds.[citation needed] Tony Smith Personal Management
(formerly hit & run) have yet to make an announcement".
Now, clicking on the movie title's above in there, then going to the
Soundtrack link in that article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Against_All_Odds_(soundtrack)
The list only shows the song "Making a Big Mistake" credited entirely
to Mike. I may be wrong, though.
