FNM/Bungle influence. The voice, the music, etc. DOnt get me wrong, the songs
also kick ass and have a little bit of the Incubus distinction but wow. This
isnt a bad thing though. I think Incubus is going somewhere....

check out 'Make Yourself' as well...the fnm/bungle influence is less
pronounced...the songs are smoother and more commercial (thats
not a bad thing with incubus) - now all they need is some decent
management and some proper advertising and they might actually
get somewhere..they certainly got the songs !

their awesome old DJ. The new DJ sucks... or isn't given a lot of
opportunity to do stuff, but my guess is he isn't as creative as the
last one. Incubus has sort of replaced Faith No More as far as
favorate band. Although... I should word that as "favorate active
band"... because it will take a lot to get Faith No More to not be my
favorate band anymore. Argh... if only they had a few more albums
under their belt.

I really love S.C.I.E.N.C.E. a lot and think it's very musically
satisfying but can't get into their new stuff at all. It's almost like a
different band.

Okay.... I've got SCIENCE now and I've changed my mind a bit from what I
said previously - it's a really good album, it's heavy, it's funky, there's
now bits (mainly vocals) which are maybe that little bit TOO FNM influenced,
but I can live with it. There are only a couple of the blander songs that
compile Make Yourself - with the whiney vocals.
BUT!!! - What WERE they thinking when they mad MAke Yourself!??? It's shit
compared to SCIENCE! I hope they get it together and bring back the
funk/latin/metal extremes that crop up in SCIENCE.
Ah well, at least they're not making the same song over and over again

GOD DAMMIT!!
I had Enjoy Incubus in my hand a month ago at a huge store clearout sale....
and I got shitty Make Yourself instead.
But why, why did they turn away from the harder sound, and funkier ideas and
the even bungle-esque stuff... I liked that! But I give them a lot more
credit now - I'd definately look out for a new album in the future (in case
they go back to that sound).

ok, for one thing, as you may or may not know, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is not their
newest material, and while I've always enjoyed that album and the 2 previous
recordings - Make Yourself (either '99 or '00, don't remember when I bought it)
is a piece of shit. They're going downhill (at least in songwriting) as far as
I've seen.

its there demos...i remember askin them about it when i saw them tourin for
science and askin what the chance were of findin fungus amongus.....i think it
was jose(drummer)...he said the label didnt wanna do it cause they werent that
big....haha.....

Thought I'd share, while on the whole 'nu-metal' topic (not that Incubus really
are) that one band who have impressed me a lot is 'Disturbed'. There's a couple
songs on their album (The Sickness) that I reeeally like. You've got to like them
in that cheesy metallica kinda vain, but them they can be genuinely heavy, and
make great use of keyboardy effects. Their singer claims to be influenced by
Patton, be he's a great singer in his own right, and does some cool scat noises -
almost Fantomas style. No seven string nonsense, no DJ scratching, no Fred Durst
ego/lyrics, no widdley solos, but a lot of fresh riffs and the drummer reminds me
of Puffy. So from a big FNM fan's point of view, they come recommended.

Deja shows, for the last three months, in the groups * music*, exactly
978 matches for search incubus. That's more than the recommended ten
posts per day.
That means you will be able to advertise the band in those newsgroups to
contact users who will request the new group from their providers. Use
Deja to find those possible supporters and drop a note in every thread
you see discussing the band. Most ISPs will not add an alt newsgroup
without a request from a subscriber. Still a lot of work, but not
impossible as it would be with an unknown band.

ground stuff on the bottom of the cover and back, and in the booklet for songs

yeah, while retaining their "organic/mathematical" direction began with "Make
Yourself". I don't see where the hell they get 'mathematical' at all, I'd
think more of a Dillinger Escape Plan as warranting that description. Their
old stuff was more "organic" too, I don't know what sense they're referring to
that in.
