ELO vs. YES?

Back in the 1970s and up until around 1982, the Electric Light Orchestra was
putting out some gigantic hits. Even though ELO has been largely forgotten,
how would you compare the prime of ELO to YES?

Which band was better in your opinion back in the 1970s? There was a time
when an ELO album would place two or three tracks on the Billboard Charts
every time. Did you like ELO more than YES back then? Did you think of them
as similar bands? Is ELO progressive rock?

ELO's first two albums (No Answer, ELO II) were fairly progressive.
But "On the Third Day" was a sign of things to come, much more middle-
of-the-road. Thereafter, they became a pop-rock band with classical
strings.
At the time, I actually liked ELO better, but I was a kid, then. Yes
impresses me more, now.

Back in the day, I would have chalked up ELO to "over-production", plus
tipping its hat too much to tradition with the use of all those strings
..... And that's why I preferred Yes, because they used "rock-and-roll"
instruments .... That was my reasoning back then .....
I've changed my mind since ... I still prefer Yes, but I like ELO way more
than I used to ... I've learned over time to really enjoy string sections
and horn sections as well .......

My sister died of stage 4 brain cancer after fighting it hard for over 4
years after a prognosis of 6 months to live. Her last months were an
agonizing slow death that I would not wish on my worst enemy.

So anyone who bandies about wishing someone would get cancer and die is a
complete fucktard in my book.

Thinking and verbalizing negative thoughts like this will more likely cause
you cancer later in life along with myself for angrily responding when
someone trivializes it.

You see? Only a jackass would make such a remark.

The jackass that replies to the jackass is the biggest jackass of all, but
the jackass that makes the wise remarks and draws the kernel of wisdom from
the first two jackasses is the Master Jackass, or YODAY (YOE-DAY).
