'ELO, STOOGIES!*

Spotted a TV commercial the other day that combined the Electric Light
Orchestra's "Mr. Blue Sky" with a brief clip from a 3 Stooges short
(showing a monocled gentleman taking several pies in the face). This
must certainly be the first known teaming of Howard, Fine, and Lynne,
n'est pas?

I think that clip might be from KEYSTONE HOTEL, not the Stooges. It's
a shame, because the Stooges and ELO together conjures images of a
mashup of ROCKARIA and SWINGING THE ALPHABET (the highlight being
Larry's electric violin solo).

Y'know what? You're probably right! I made the assumption that it was
from a Stooges short because it was a shot I was definitely very, very
familiar with, and few if any -- but I used to have Keystone Hotel on
one of those cheap Castle Films 8mm jobbies for the ol' home movie
projector!

(Actually, I still have it somewhere; I just haven't watched it in
years. Nor have I watched the others I have, which include 3- and 11-
minute excerpts from flicks by the Stooges, Marxes, Univeral horror
classics, early Looney Tunes, etc.)
