classic country artists on CD

Anyone looking to replace worn out vinyl or tapes of classic country
artists might be interested in the following website.
www.Sanctuaryrecordsgroup.co.uk. Not to be confused with ‘dot
com’ site by the same name.
Though this is a trade site and you have to order through your local
retailer, the catalogue lists the artists, the order information and
the track listing for each CD.
Earlier this year I purchased CD’s of Eddie Arnold, Ernest Tubb,
Bill Monroe, Jimmy Rodgers, Gene Autry, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Hank
Locklin, Hank Thomson, Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard, Slim Whitman and
Faron Young and there are many more to choose from. Look out for the
new releases due end of January 2004.
The series is called Famous Country Music Makers on Pulse or Castle
Music. These are Budget CDs and the covers are none too fancy, but
there is a basic write up and the music is good and they retail over
here in the UK at £3 - £4 (that is approx $4.50 - $6.00 US) depending
which stores you order or purchase them from.
Just though I would share this with any one interested, always looking
for new sites to replace classic country artists on CD.

I will agree that the music is good. I have the Eddy Arnold, Faron Young,
and Hank Thompson volumes. But let's be clear that these are not original
hit recordings, they are transcriptions made for radio play. That said, I DO
recommend them to anyone who really likes a particular artist. The sound is
good, the performances are top notch. They are probably the only place you
will catch Faron Young singing "Almost Persuaded", "Moments To Remember",
"Apartment #9", or "King Of The Road". Hank Thompson sings "Mama Don't
'Low", "Red Necks White Socks And Blue Ribbon Beer", and "There's A Honky
Tonk Angel" as well as reprising some of his hits.
