Big Bill Lister has died

Big Bill Lister, who first commercially recorded "There's a Tear in My Beer"
in the 1950s, died December 1 in San Antonio. No cause of death was given.

Standing 6'7", Big Bill was a member of the Drifting Cowboys after Hank
fired all the people (memorialized in "The Ballad of Hank Williams" by Don
Helms and Hank Jr.). Hank gave him an acetate of the song "There's a Tear
in My Beer." Decades later, Lister found the tape in his stuff and gave it
to Hank Jr. Williams Jr. cleaned up the vocal of his dad, added his own,
and had a huge hit.

Big Bill Lister was 86.
