Johnny Cash, Hank Sr., Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and
believe it or not, Rodney Crowell. And, I gotta throw him in even though he's
not country, Gordon Lightfoot .

I'm mainly a Bluegrass fan but like most of the hard core traditional
country artists active between 1945 and 1960.#1 Hank Snow but Hank
Williams,Kitty Wells,Ernest Tubb and many others are also great favorites.

I had a break-in and they stole 90% of my collection, which at that time
were cassettes. I first thought I had lost A - H, which included part
of Merle Haggard. I later realized N- W was missing except for a few
O-P-Q-R ...meaning, they didn't get Elvis or Marty Robbins... but they
got all my Willie Nelson, which at that time I had about 20 of his. (I
only have one Elvis..<g>) But I did not lose
Kristofferson/Jennings/Highwamen. I had _all_ of Vern Gosdin... they
are gone!

I have slowly been replacing/adding with CD's now. My All-time fave
album is Willie Nelson's 'Red Headed Stranger' and I've got that back
again. I lost over 300 tapes, and I've got about 30 CD's now.

I'd say Kris dominates now. Dwight Yoakam as well (never lost his)
Somebody mentioned Rodney Crowell... I've got a couple of his newer
ones, but had them all... It's been about 3 years now, and I still am
angry.

>What country artist or artists dominate your collection....<

Nobody dominates, but George Jones, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson by virtue
of their longevity, probably have the biggest
share.

I have over 800 country and bluegrass vinyl and CDs and about 4000 old
45s. Got just about every one of the older artists. Have a lot of
bluegrass - Jim & Jesse, Bill Monore, Country Gentlemen, Osborne Bros.,
Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Bros, etc.

I just completed my collection of every single CD and video by Lee
Kernaghan who is my all-time favorite. He's totally awesome. Never
heard anyone so fabulous.

Have a lot of old Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Tommy Collins, Wynn
Stewart and that great west coast country sound of the 60s. Some
George Jones, Hank Jr., Hank Thompson

Don't have anything current. There's not much there in my opinion.

The CDs I'm now planning to stock up on are Troy Cassar-Daley, Sara
Storer, Melinda Schneider, Tania Kernaghan, Colin Buchanan, Sovereign,
and all the great, traditional groups from down under who have the same
sound we had in the 60s.

Red Stetson apparently took issue with my inclusion of Trick Pony in my
CD collection.

To each his own, but I'm not ashamed to be a
Trick Pony fan by any means. Heidi, their lead singer; showed that it
was cool for a gal to have "balls" long before Gretchen Wilson came
along. Any girl who can tear into a good ol', politically incorrect
drinkin' song; like "Pour Me" has a certain appeal to her. AND, Waylon,
Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson each gave the group their seal of
approval by cutting duets with them. That, in itself; makes them OK in
my book.

Have a safe and happy Holiday,

Jennings, too.

With all due respect, I just can't get into Trick Pony. It just ain't me.
I can't deal with it. It discombobulates my head, heart, and soul. Trick
Pony is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. I do however realize a lot
of folks like them. I just can't understand it. Especially from sensible
folks like I know you are from your posts.

And about the duets--Willie did a duet with Julio Iglesias too. All that
weed whacked out his brain.

I given all my George Jones albums to my daughter, who turned out to be be
as big as a fan as I was\ I am. Lucky for me 'cause i stopped buying his
records in the late 80s ( not that I lost interest- the big hits i got on
CD) she's got a lot of his newer stuff i listen to ~ so it worked out
pretty good. Other favorites are Charlie Pride , Hank Senior, Alabama and
my Canadian Favorite - Stomping Tom.
