Hey,
Just received this from artist direct:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Hi. My name is XXXX, Customer Service Manager for ARTISTdirect.
I
was cruising the alt.music.counting-crows bulletin board
recently and
noticed that you had some issues regarding our recent exclusive
CD sale.

Since you are in the Netherlands I didn't know what time to
contact you via
phone or I would have. However, please feel free to contact me
at
1-323-634-4226 or let me know when is a good time to call you,
or reply to
this email. I am very interested in discussing your issues and
seeing if
there is anything I can do to assist you. The sale was very
successful and
went well except for the overloading of the servers. The
response to this
sale is the greatest single day response we've had and even
though we
expanded our server capacity we were still overloaded.

I did notice by the way that you couldn't find our phone
number. The phone
number is located throughout our help section which can be
reached via the
Help button on the site.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

So they do read this and will hopefully do something with our
comments. Just hope that everybody that was upset with them
didn't give them the impression never to release another
exclusive cd again.

Tom

interesting.
i actually emailed them on the day of the sale and got a response, too
(before the sale started) because i couldn't find the phone number
either. i did find it eventually; you had to go to the page where you
start to place the order and then it was at the top; it wasn't readily
available (at least that i found) on any of the main pages of
artistdirect.com
i wonder if they realize that.

they do seem responsive, tho. i got two emails from them.

They are..I need to make an appology to them..they saw an older post I
made about them 'sucking' and tattled on me..:(
they failed to mention all the posts where I was defending them & their
recent efforts..which I was heavily and am slightly hurt that they
didn't notice.. So if they are reading..
(quote)
I'm sorry I said you sucked..that was out of line..I know you are trying
your best and everyones interest & effort should be in making the CC.com
site better..(as opposed to making each other look bad)
(end quote)

I guess it would be hard not to complain if you missed out on a cd and others got
multiple copies .... (and I'm sure most people would agree) but think how much
easier it would be for them not to release any bootlegs - and they definitely
learned from BTTWGTW, I'd say that FTPL went pretty well - the server crashing
obviously wasn't good, but I think pretty much anyone who wanted a copy got one.
BTW is the quality of FTPL significantly better than the boot of Denver that's
been available previously?
hopefully they release another bootleg in the near future, it would be cool if it
was a rare show - but if they did that then I'm sure their server would have even
more trouble than with FTPL

i think it is crappy that Artist Direct is spying on you and tattling.
part of what makes your page great is that you are happy to point out
the obvious truth about certain things, including the suckiness of some
sites. the official site BITES. Artist Direct royally screwed the
first cd sale, and was pretty mediocre with the second.

i was surprised to see AD even bothered to write anybody.

I waited 2 MONTHS FOR A SHIRT TO SHIP AND AFTER I FINALLY BOUGHT IT AT A
SHOW THEY TOLD ME I COULDN'T CANCEL MY ORDER BECAUSE IT HAD SHIPPED EVEN
THOUGH IT DIDN'T SAY THAT WHEN I CHECKED THE STATUS OF MY ORDER. SCREW
ARTIST DIRECT. THEY DO SUCK. SPENDING THREE HOURS HITTING RELOAD WAS
THE EXACT WAY I WANTED TO SPEND MY FREAKING MORNING. GET A CLUE. IF
YOU TAKE ORDERS ON THE PHONE IT IS NOT AND INTERNET SALE.

DON'T TELL PEOPLE *WHERE* YOUR NUMBER IS WHEN THE SERVER IS SO
OVERLOADED YOU CAN'T LOAD A PAGE TO FIND IT.

poor artist direct had their feelings hurt by lisa. boo hooo. get a
life! Her site IS the best. It will ALWAYS be better than the official
site. Even if she can't say it, EVERYONE knows it.

so there.

Took them from february 2nd till last week (june 10th or so) to
send me a t-shirt! Didn't know they still had to grow the cotton
plants it's made out of in february...
