I know what you're referring to, and the song sounded vaguely familiar,
but I'm not sure what it was. It did sound like something from the early
days. I pulled out Chicago II today, but it wasn't on there. I'll keep my
eyes and ears open for an answer.

What you heard was "Hit by Varese" from Chicago V. The set list does not
include anything new but does have a few things they have not done before,
many of which only us old people remember from days gone by. Lee also sings
"Happy Man" from Chicago VII, a song Cetera sang on the album.

Thanks, Fred. Man, it sounds like they're starting to remember that used to
be cool. Or maybe they ARE reading this newsgroup. Whatever it is, I'm
glad it wasn't another Christmas song or rearrangement of a big band tune.
Man, oh, man... "A Hit By Varese"... maybe they could sneak in the odd
"While The City Sleeps" or maybe even a sly "Mother" or something.

Thanks Fred. It does ring a bell, even though it's been years since I've
listened to V, or even Group Portrait for that matter. As much as I've
enjoyed listening to it before... one can only wonder WHY I've never
purchased Group Portrait for myself LOL. Thanks alot, I really appreciate
it. And, just in case they do read this from time to time... please play
more of the so-called 'obscure' tunes... Variety is why i became a Chicago
fan in the first place. Take care... and here's hopin I enjoy Journey here
in a couple of weeks... (no, I wont make any Steve comparisons lol)

There is a great live version of "Hit By Varese" on the "Live in Japan 1972"
CD that you can get through http://www.chirecords.com
or many record stores. The entire CD is a great Terry Kath show.
