Being a Chicago fan you may want to consider ordering the Terry Kath tribute
CD and "Live In Japan" (which is NOT available in stores, only directly in
conjunction with Chicago Music Inc. I've heard "Live In Japan" is FAR better
than "Live at Carnegie Hall"). As for the ever so elusive "Stone of Sisyphus,"
Robert Lamm has said that it WILL be released. At this point WHEN is anyone's
guess. I've heard it, it's got some kickin' songs on it. I can't wait until
it's released because I think it's their best in YEARS.
BTW, your story is very familiar to me. I'm 19, I've been listening to Chicago
since I was 12. One day I was watching Rock Blocks on VH1, "Look Away" was
popular (although I didn't much care for it) so Chicago Rock blocks were
somewhat common. Well anyway, they played the video for "Will You Still Love
Me" and I was hooked! At first I didn't like the earlier stuff either. For
awhile all I listened to was Chicago 17 and 18. Finally I took the plunge and
started listening to their earlier music. The first pre-1982 Chicago album
I bought was IX, shortly after my parents bought me The Group Portrait for
Christmas. It really grew on me so I started hunting down Chicago albums. I
now have ALL of their US releases (except for Live in Japan and the Terry Kath
tribute CD) in some form or another (some on LP, some on CD, some on cassette).
I also was able to find the Electra Glide In Blue soundtrack with "Tell Me"
on it and a huge picture booklet with pics from the movie (including some
members of the band), "Tell Me" is one of the most soulful songs Terry ever
sang. And being a Peter Cetera fan I've stumbled onto all of his albums
including the elusive 1981 self titled one.... I've seen Chicago in concert
4 times over the past 4 years and each time I saw them they sounded better
than the previous time. Whether or not they'll have another hit is up to the
public not them. I Love their music and the stuff they're putting out now
is the best that they've put out in years.
