I'll keep it short, but I saw on the news today about the conviction of that
white supremacist in Texas that killed a black man by dragging him for over a
mile and a half, beheading him and tearing an arm off in the process of his
"joy-ride" <shiver and nausea>. It really bothers me; that kind of inhumanity
(or some might call it quite "human"), as I'm sure it does everyone here. I
hope we never become desensitized to that kind of violence and hatred. I don't
know how you parents out there explain these kinds of things to your kids.

So I have this innate desire to say, "We're all fans of CT, let's just get
along" and "There are more important things than bickering over stupid things
like differences of opinion on posting about KISS in a CT NG" and "Let's show
some tolerance and respect to each other". You get the idea.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that this news today really bothers me and makes
me sick at times of what we can do to one another as human beings. It's not one
of our finer days as citizens when we have to convict someone for this kind of
crime. It might be nothing monumental, but I'm going to light a candle today in
memory of that poor man and hope you might do something similar.

It's a shame when stupidity in the human existence leads to such
violence against another human being. I hate racism, I hate sexism,
and after hearing about the crimes against James Byrd, I hate being
in the same species as the fuckers that could commit such a hideous
act. Death is too kind for the guilty parties in this case.

Is this the same James Byrd that plays in Fifth Angel?

I must confess, I was born at a very early age.

It sure is mortifying to think such things do occur, & with the frequency.
When this news story hit our shores, I could hardly believe the horror of
it.But yes, it does make you take stock, and put things into perspective. It
makes you feel pretty stupid complaining about feeling fat when you know
you're anything , a new zit (came yesterday ) having a cold (achoo!!) or what
someone wrote on the n.g. that we shouldn't let irritate us. Let's see if we
can go a day without any n.g. conflict. Back to business. Anyone got any
C.T. news? Juli.

I don't know where I really stand on the death penalty. I've thought about it a
lot over the years. Sometimes I am for it, sometimes I am against it. I'm
familiar with both arguments (for and against) but in this case... I have to
agree with you. Even death for these guys seems too easy of a way out. It's
just sickening what they did. Sickening.

If any good is to come out of this, maybe it will be to awaken some racists to
reexamine their beliefs. Maybe... I hope so. Mr. Byrd's death shouldn't be in
vain.

Well, in this case I hope the slimeball gets the death penalty. Although in my
opinion, I think lethal injection is too kind and gentle a way out for him.
Why not put a chain around his ankles and tie him to the back of a pickup truck
and drag him for 3 miles? Sound familiar?

Maybe I'm just a vengeful Scorpio, but that's what I'd do..........

....I'm with you Dayna......a comfy prison cell until his time comes is way to
nice for that scum-bucket......I think he should be stabbed with a thousand
needles, then dipped in alcohol, repeatedly, but that's just my opinion....oh
yeah, he should also have to walk barefoot across a room covered a foot deep
in rabid, hungry rats on his way to the electric chair...

I hate that I have to say that it happened in the state I live in and
love dearly.

One good thing: Texas does NOT f*ck around with idiots like these. If
they're found guilty, they're toast.

I Emailed this to Bone Machine but I'll post it here to. I thought of this last
night for punishment. His life-time cellmate should be a big mean-ass 500 pound
gay black guy.

He can spend the rest of his life being some guy's bitch.

Now THAT would be poetic!!!

Just my thoughts. Let's have pie!

Let him share a cell with Mike Tyson and a wall full of televisions.

I say give him the max - death by lethal injection.

You know what cracks me up about that? They wipe the injection spot down with
alcohol before injecting the guy, and then even use a sterile needle to give a
lethal injection.

Why bother?!?!?

I've pondered that one myself Mark. What the hell, you are gonna kill the
guy so why worry about sterilizing the injection point? Talk about
pointless - no pun intended.

To add my two cents worth here, I think lethal injection is way too nice for
this type of a crime.

"Texecuted," so to speak.
