Sarah Mclachlan -- Laws of Illusion

McLachlan's new CD Laws of Illusion,
including a track by track description, but
I'm not up to it tonight.
But I will say that this CD is a welcome
addition to Sarah's discography after a
seven year absence. It boasts stellar
instrumental work and vocals and
excellent songwriting including some
tracks just by Sarah and some cowritten
with her producer Pierre Marchand.
The CD was recorded live off the floor
so it has a warm, live feel similar to her
CD The Freedom Sessions.
The songs range from breakup songs,
swinging love songs, an ode to a past
relationship that should be done but
might flare up again, a coming of age
tune, and mystical poetic songs.
The deluxe version of the CD includes
an up-close DVD with interview snippets,
song intros, and five songs from the CD
done on piano and vocals, and I think this
is definitely worth the few extra dollars.
