The band re-formed in 1968 with Roger as the only original member and it
ceased to play a little after the time the reunion album was being worked
on. The songs were selected by the various original members.
Roger did record "Born to Rock & Roll" as a single artist.

I do agree that it is a pretty good album, but it could have been so
much better. It was absolutely panned by the critics. I was
disappointed at its quality when it first came out, but I have come to
appreciate it more in the interim.
By their own admission, individual members have stated that they were
holding back better songs for their own solo projects, so that was a
problem. Also, Crosby produced the album, so, with a couple of
exceptions, the trademark Rickenbacker sound was buried deep in the
mix by him. Don't know if that was anything personal on his part (it
could easily have been so) but it seems to me that he wanted it to
sound more like a Crosby album than a Byrds album. Not that there is
anything necessarily wrong with that, but a Byrds album was expected
and it was not delivered.

"Born to Rock & Roll" was re-recorded on one of McGuinn's solo albums.

Just to complete the thought, the song was recorded on 4 different
albums, as follows:
Byrds - Byrds "Reunion" (1973) - Track 5: "Born to Rock'n'Roll" – 3:12
Roger McGuinn & Band (1975) - Track 10: "Born to Rock and Roll"
Roger McGuinn - Born to Rock and Roll (1991) - Track 20: "Born To Rock
And Roll" – 3:17
Byrds - Farther Along (Remastered) (2000) - Track 13: "Born to Rock
and Roll"
How's that for a good bit of recycling?

The 73 Reunion album is something I haven't listened to all the way
through since 1973.
Born to Rock' n' Roll was a horrific song. It was recycled, but so is
other refuse.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. It was not one of their
great songs, but it was not that bad.
