Nick Bracegirdle, better known as Chicane, has
created a new form of dance music - Gaelic
House, using the vocal talents of Clannad singer,
Moira Brennan.
When it came to filming the video they got into a
bit more saltwater than they bargained for. -
they were practicising a shot of a surfer when all
hell let loose: "We stopped to change a lens
and that was it - the Previa had all the camera
gear in it, and we had to run all up and down the
beach, we couldn’t move it", they told Radio One.
"And then the tide came, and out went the
Previa and we had to carry on filming and it’s
bobbing around, floating in the sea! We’re trying
to do a serious film shoot and in the background
one of your cars is bobbing around in the sea!"
Eventually, however, they managed to get a tractor
to tow it out: "It was real James Bond stuff,
y’know. You opened the door and water just came
flying out, and fish, y’know, It was
ridiculous!"
Nick recently gave Bryan Adams a bit of a dance
injection with ‘Cloud # 9’. Bryan was so
pleased with the results he's asked him to produce
his album. So could that mean we'll be
seeing old Bryan doing a spot of podium dancing?:
"We’re not gonna turn him into some
searing dance act, y’know. But we’re just giving it
a kick. My mix on ‘Cloud #9’ I was like
‘hmmm. Are you sure?!’ It’s really good to see an
artist like him taking risks to a certain
degree. It’s gonna be really interesting - you
compare it to maybe like William Orbit maybe
working with Madonna, or something like that".
