Anyone still reading this? I know posting has stopped for the most
part.

Not wanting to stir up old hurt feelings, but keeping the faith

Guess no one's still reading the group. Or just don't want to talk. I
guess I can call it. ToD 2009

People lose interest when bands don't produce. Even the hardcore fans
are diminishing due to the band refusing to put out anything new.
Still haven't gotten the Spectres remaster, but it's on my wishlist.
Monolith? Really? The best triple play for Kansas would be the first
3: Kansas, Song of America, and Masque. What were they thinking?
Of course the BOC triple play is off-kilter, too.
How many of us are waiting for the remaster of Mirrors? Am I the only
one? Why is that my most listened-to BOC album? Oh, yeah, I love 70s
pop-rock, and I love BOC. The two worlds come together here.
Cheers,
Fred
I've been lurking in this group for over a decade. I've never
met or even seen any of the band members in real life (not even
a concert), so I never felt qualified to say much here, but I
did enjoy reading messages from those who did.
I thought it might have been those two fools (pedotard?/arseholio?) who
killed this group, but I guess Cat is right, there just isn't much
new to talk about anymore.
I have a question for those buying the new re-masters. A lot of
music these days is mixed to maximize the sound levels throughout
the whole song (using dynamic range compression and higher gains).
Personally, I prefer the mixing on LPs and old CDs, so I haven't
been updating my old BOC CDs for that reason. Are the new re-masters
mixed in the new, loud, style, or have they at least kept faithful
to the old dynamic range?

I guess they still tour. I imagine that the actual sales of Heaven
Forbid and Curse of the Hidden Mirror probably gauge the fan base
hunger for new stuff. And I imagine it's not all that good. Of the two
albums, I liked Curse more, although with a few skipper songs.

I really, really like Nosferatu.

Probably, but Monolith does have a couple songs I like a lot.

True enough, however, I really like Fire of Unknown Origin and the
debut, so no complaints there. Now, ET live, it probably had been 5-10
years or more since I really listened to it.

Mirrors? I don't know. I barely listen to that one.

I know what you're saying, and yes, the re-masters seem to have the
overall sound level increased over the original CD's. I don't know if
my 25 years working in a loud factory with headphones on ears are the
best judges of if they're faithful or not. I think they sound good,
but, with my ears? Maybe you buy just one, whichever one you like the
best and listen and decide for yourself if you think they're worth it
or not.

Certainly they still tour...going the beginning of March to see them!
My point is that even if they don't have a label, they could be
recording, but apparently that's not up their alley nowadays. In
their 60's, happy to rest on their laurels....now if that's what they
want, fine, but it would be a lot better if even Buck put out
something on his own. Talk at Buck's site from Albert hints to
wanting a reunion...wouldn't that be cool! But it will also be a cold
day in a hot place when it happens.

That would be nice to see, but the bad blood runs deep from what I
understand.
As for resting on their laurels, they did have a great body of work
over the years, and well, the rate of releasing albums really tailed
off a long time ago.

Perhaps, but I believe I have been listening to them more the past
few years than I have in quite some time.
Tom
A new album would be nice, but if you can't touch the classics, then
maybe not.
I like Mirrors, so I'm hoping it will be remastered.

I did see on the new release papers at the local record shop, there
is a playlist edition of the Best of BoC being released this week, I
believe. No idea what songs are on it.

This is a link to see the details on this CD. I don't really care for
some of the picks. Not that I don't like the songs, I just would have
picked some different ones.
No Nosferatu, ffs?
