Subject: Tammy Fassaert / Shearwater (BC bluegrass)
Before Christmas Tammy Fassaert sent me a copy of the 2008
bluegrass recording Shearwater by Shearwater, a bluegrass band
she was in which has disbanded.

Shearwater was  Tammy Fassaert on upright bass and vocals,
Dave Clarke on guitar and vocals, and James Whittall
on mandolin.   On some tracks they are joined by
special guest Adrian Dolan on fiddle.

The Shearwater CD is a mix of nine songs and three
original instrumental tracks.   Of the nine songs
four were written by Tammy Fassaert and three were
co-written by Dave Clarke and Lucinda Chodan.

I like it very much and recommend it along with Tammy's
two earlier solo recordings  Just Passin' Through and
Corner of My Eye.   She also has an instructional
DVD out entitled Beginning Upright Bass.

The Shearwater band web page is no more but Tammy's
web page is http://www.island.net/~tammyfas/ and
order information for the solo CDs and upright
bass instructional DVD are on the Recordings subpage.

The Shearwater CD may also be available from Tammy
but I advise you to e-mail her and check before
sending any money.   (Her e-mail address is in
the Contact subpage of her web page.)

And as Merle said on some other groups,

"Also, you can hear her sing and teach standup bass on
Youtube. Just type her name into a search on Youtube."
