Oh, Brother Where Art Thou Wind Power?
Watermelon Park – September 18-20, 2008 - Berryville, VA

This year’s Watermelon Park Fest brings the voice of the hit film “Oh,
Brother Where Art Thou” to its stage, which will be completely powered
by Wind.

The Stanley Brother’s song “Man of Constant Sorrow,” which was lip-
synched by George Clooney in the hit Coen Brother’s film, was actually
performed by Dan Tyminski, this year’s Saturday Headliner. The song
became a big hit for Dan, and helped to rekindle a huge popular
interest in bluegrass and traditional music. Dan Tyminski has been a
staple in the Bluegrass scene for years, from his days in The Lonesome
River Band and beyond, to his thirteen-year tenure with Allison Krauss
and Union Station, and his current Dan Tyminski Band.

Shepherds Ford Productions, the production company presenting
Watermelon Park Fest, will power the entire festival with Wind. They
won’t have wind turbines onsite, but have purchased Renewable Energy
Certificates from a company called Clean Currents, the same company
that powers My Organic Market. Watermelon Park Fest will also feature
locally-provided backstage food, recycling, free filtered water, and
biodegradable cups and dishes made of corn.

This year also features an amazing array of acoustic entertainment,
including Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, Crooked Still, Magraw Gap, The
Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Woodshedders, Furnace Mountain Band,
Danny Knicely presents Bluegrass & Beyond, The Freight Hoppers, Zan
McCleod, Billy McComski, Molly Andrews, and Jim Egan, The Mando Mafia,
The Speakeasy Boys, Gold Heart, The Page County Ramblers, The Whiskey
Rebellion, Chesham Creek, Gavin Largent & Grassland, The Fox Hunt, The
Clubhouse Gang, Bayou Faux Pas, The Acoustic Burgoo, Fiddlin’ Dave &
his 6 Hotel Rooms, Instrument Workshops, Old-Time and Cajun Dances,
Kid’s Activities, and the Fairbuilt Guitar and Weber Mandolin Pickin’
Contest.

Watermelon Park is a family-friendly venue situated on a beautiful
bend of the Shenandoah River, offering onsite camping, spectacular
views, and shady seating areas as you listen to the bands. Several
quality food vendors will be onsite to provide a variety of lunch and
dinner refreshments.
