Jerusalem Ridge KY anyone?

KY at the end of September for the four day Bluegrass festival.
Is anyone else on this newsgroup heading off there?
We have loads of questions to ask about practical issues. Paul is worried
about snakes coming into our tent - is this a possibility?

Anything is a possibility but a snake in your tent is highly unlikely.
Your biggest worries as far as critters go are probably chiggers and
ticks and we drink our beer cold over here.

Our plans so far are to pick up an Areo from Nashville airport on arrival
which will be very late evening. We will then drive straight to Rosine,
arriving hopefully by daybreak. We'll have the day free to shop and sleep
before the festival starts next day.
We'll head to the local Wal-marts to buy a tent, air bed and sleeping bags.
Where would that be and how can I find out if they have them in stock? Is it
a big Wal-marts and do they have a car park there? Will they shut at 5pm?
After two days soaking up the glorious Bluegrass, we'll spend a day driving
to Graceland, spend the next day there and head back to the airport. How
long should we allow to get there and is it an easy/picturesque drive? Are
there hotels a plenty?
All in all we are in the USA for six full days (not including flying days).
We thought about doing Memphis first and spending the last two days at the
festival. However, I feel that to become accustomed to the first driving
would be better on the freeway out to Rosine and at night with less cars on
the roads.
By the time we get to Memphis, he should be more than ready to take on the
city traffic - bearing in mind that he drives through central London at rush
hour every day - this should be easy (why did I say that!).
Just one last thing about the camping at Rosine. How close to the pitching
area will the loos be? I ask as I'm wheelchair dependant and the terrain is
a challenge I hope to relish.
I'm sure that you can see many holes in our plans, I welcome all contructive
comments and suggestions as to how we can modify our schedule for the
better. Do you know of a cheap hotel near the airport that is dead easy to
drive to instead of us driving through the night on arrival? Fuel over in
the UK is around $7.50 a gallon. What is it over there?
I know you's are probably thinking we're quite nutty, but we haven't had a
break from work for many years and the Bluegrass beckoned for me, Elvis
beckoned for Paul. All sensibilities flew straight out the window..... we
just want to make the best of our six days of madness whilst we are both
still able to due to my declining health.

All airports are ringed witrh cheap motels.

About $3.00 a gallon.

My advice: skip Graceland, visit Louisville and Nashville. Less
driving, more to see.

Thanks Pete, what a lovely surprise the fuel cost is.
If only I could skip Graceland - I'd love to. Unfortunately, I have an
extreme Elvis fan going with me so I daren't. Personally, I cannot think of
anywhere else I'd least like to go, but for Paul it is a dream come true.

I would just get a can of "deep woods off". I doubt chiggers will be a
big problem but just spray your legs and that should keep them off.
Spray more of your arms, back and such if you go out into the woods to
keep the ticks off.
