Ben vs Ben Folds Five: Thoughts/Comments?

Hey all,

I'm a long-time Ben Folds fan (since I was roughly ten years old... 13
years of loyal fandom, and counting), and I've noticed a sort of inner-
backlash in amongst the B'Fo community, in relation to his recent
stuff. Though I'd spike some communication about your thoughts on his
recent stuff, and how you'd compare it to the work with BF5.

To be honest, it feels to me like we're holding him to a higher
standard that other musicians. I've heard a lot of talk about having
too much "humor" in his new stuff, but to me that's sort of a cop
out... Songs for Silverman had almost no straight-up humor in it! Of
course, "Bitches Ain't Shit" was a bit of a novelty single, but beyond
that, I can't think of a recent time when he's released anything
overly kitchy.
