Am I missing anything?
(Colin)
No.
Q-Bert was pretty cool, but that was a video game.

1. Quasi/R&B Transmogrification
2. Quasi/Featuring "Birds"
3. Quasi/Early Recordings
4. Robert Quine/Fred Maher/Basic
5. Quiet Sun [featuring Phil Manzanera]/Mainstream
That's all I have....
GB
The only good Q artists I can think of are Queen, Edward Qa-Spel (which is
spelled Ka-Spel half the time anyway), um... I guess that's it.

Yeah, you are:
Quasi - Featuring 'Birds'
This was released last year and features an x-husband and wife writing team.
The x-wife being a member of Sleater-Kinney, as well. Their sound is very X
inspired pop-punk tunes, yet more on the melodic side. One of last year's best
albums. I haven't heard the rest of their stuff, though.
For nostalgic purposes, Queensryche's 'Operation: Mindcrime' was a pretty good
record.

Don't you people like Queen? ;-)
I've only got a couple to add...
Quickspace - "Quickspace"
Quickspace - "Supo Spot"
Quickspace - "Precious Falling"
Q-burns Abstract Message - "Feng Shui"

I've got "Happy Trails" by Quicksilver. It's a jam album, mostly made up
of lengthy workouts on some Bo Diddley tunes. Two instrumentals on Side
2 are really good, but I don't think I'd put it on a Best Of list.

There is also some wonderful stuff, and their first album last year,
for a band calle Quigley... fantastic stuff.
The other one would be QuickSpace.
But, yeah, Queen would be the only reason to look under Q at most stores.

Maybe. What do they sound like? I'm not gonna check something out just
based on yr recommendation, cause you like way too much boring techno.
Electronic stuff has to be Third Eye Foundation or FSOL or those Low remixes,
something of that caliber, for me to care about. I'd like to check out some
Scanner, since he did an absolutely amazing 12" remixing two Hovercraft songs
("Vagus Nerve" and "De-Orbit Burn").

this made me laugh for some reason. quasi are quite poppy, lots of moog...if
one were lazy about it, he could describe them as stereolab meets the kinks,
and they are quite good...much better than say, sleater kinney. oh and
jack...ya really owe it to yourself to find that quad album, especially if ya
like wide open, middle eastern drones intercut with spurts of acid guitar
brilliance.
key
quad "s/t" quicksilver messenger service "happy trails" i would say this is
worthy of a best of list, especially if it's one made up solely of
bands/artists that start with a "q". quicksilver messenger service "shady
grove" quasi "featuring birds" quasi "r&b transmogrification" queen "a night
at the opera" (why not?) quickspace "s/t" robert quine "basic" ? & the
mysterians "96 tears" quarterflash "s/t" ;)

Well that does sound pretty damn great. How about you make me a tape of all
this super obscure shit no one else but you has ever heard of and send it on
my way? I'll even finally make a tape for you, since I've owed ya one for oh
about a year and a half now, heh. Course, I can't think of anything I own
that you don't... maybe the latest Negativland stuff, -Dispepsi- and the
-Happy Heroes- EP? I got some fairly decent local music I could do, I
suppose. Pegasi 51... they're like a latter-day Joy Division, only not at
all.

I didn't care for the Low remixes too much. I think there was one mix I liked
and the rest bored me.
Quasi are a ex-husband and wife pop-punk band (the wife being a member of the
extrememly overrated Sleater-Kinney). There sound is a little hard to describe,
but I'd have to say they have elements of X, The Pixies and and lots of great
hooks. I'm sure you'll get a better description from ML Compton or Gondola Bob
(both of whom I heard about the band and decided to give them a listen).

Scanner (aka Richard Rimbaud) is great, but can get a little repetitive. His
main gimmick is mixing abstract electronic music samples of cell phone calls
and other interruptions floating in and out. It's all very nice, but he over
does it a bit.
