Hi all!

Several years ago, I heard a song on an alternative radio program by
a group called "Pop Art." The song was called "In your hands" or
"In My Hands" or something like that. This song appears on a recording
called the Best of the Radio Tokyo Tapes which is out of print. Does
anyone know if there is anyway I can get hold of this recording, and
more importantly, if I can obtain any of their other recordings???
Has anyone else heard of them???

Please help!! (I've been searching for them for years!!)

Thanks in advance!

In article <Bw0vH...@news.cso.uiuc.edu> Insolvent One,

Pop Art has, at times in my life, been my absolute favorite band. That
said, however, I don't know a whole lot about them. They have four
records I'm aware of:

Pop Art (ep)
Perfect Mental Picture
Long Walk to Nowhere
Snap Crackle Pop Art

I don't have the dates handy, but they are something like '84, '85, '86,
'87, all on Stonegarden Records, a California label. (The only other
thing I know about the label is that they released the first Too Much Joy
album, Green Eggs and Crack.) The last one I bought new in a record
store when it came out. The other three I got for $.99 each in the
clearance bin at a Tower Records some years later. They are all
wonderful. The song "Roommates", from Snap Crackle Pop Art, was my
favorite song for a while. The song "Mark Came Home", from Long Walk to
Nowhere, was my introduction to the band, and hearing it (twice), on
WXCI, Western Conn. college radio, in the summer of 1986 was the only
time (until now) that I've had any indication that another human save
myself was actually aware of the band.

As far as I know, the one track on the Best of the Radio Tokyo Tapes is
their only appearance on CD. As Pop Art songs go it is good, but there
are better, and the compilation as a whole is erratic, if occasionally
interesting.

I too would love to hear from anybody who knows things like a more
authoritative discography, CD availability, or most importantly, the
current state of the group.
