Hi, Anyone know any details on RHPs signing to Too Pure? Whens "Old Ramon"
due for release? Any news on second Mark Kozelek solo album?

Any good newsgroups that cater for RHP and their ilk?

Here's your answer:

Held in limbo for years due to restructuring at Red House Painters'
previous label, it now appears the album will come out finally. After
the PolyGram empire including its Supreme label (the band's home) were
bought by Universal Music, many bands were either dropped or held in a
contractual limbo. In Red House Painters' case, Universal kept the
master tapes for the "Old Ramon" album, delaying any potential release
dates. Earlier this year the band was able to purchase back the
masters and began a search for an appropriate licensee. Now, finally,
everything has been settled and the "lost" album by Red House Painters
will be released early in 2001. After an impromtu announcement by lead
Red House Painter Mark Kozelek at their Borderline concert in London on
September 9, Paul Cox at Too Pure confirmed it all on his label's web
site. "Old Ramon" will consist of ten tracks: Wop-A-Din-Din; Bird
Joel; Void; Between Days; Cruiser; Michigan; River; Smokey; Golden;
Kavita. More details and expected release date are forthcoming.

Hi, Thanks for the info. Hopefully Old Ramon will be a return to the old
glory days of Down Colorful Hill and Red House Painters I. Did you rate
Songs for a Blue Guitar? I liked it but it lacked the "ethereal" quality of
their early stuff.
