Pain Teens

raw and rough around the edges. Very "basement" in their feel. I haven't heard
anything since then, as they never really got much air play. They are on the
"Trance" label. Does anyone have "any" info on them, or know if they're still
around?

I saw them in concert two days ago. They are the opening band for a group
called Fudge Tunnel. I liked there set alot and they also have a new disc out
called Destroy ? ( I can't remember). Keep an eye out because its a show well
worth seeing. Fudge Tunnel is what Nirvana wants to be. They are a great band
all I can say is check out Creep Diets and see for yourself.

That was good timing with your question!
I just saw them this week too and was quite impressed. The guitarist has
quite an array of effects which he uses relentlessly. The new LP is called
Destroy Me Lover and is pretty good...not as good as Born In Blood, IMHO,
though. Fudge Tunnel was pretty damn intense. They seemed kind of pissed
too, but that just made them all the better :).

had good listener response to it.

btw, I met Bliss and the guys last year, when they played the Dallas
Independent Music Festival I was stage-managing. Apart from snagging
an autographed copy of Stimulation Festival, I also purchased a t-shirt
that has the Born In Blood cover (a head shot of a gagged woman.)
Great for trips to the grocery store in the 'burbs!

They are based in Houston, and they (Scott the guitarist and Bliss the singer)
have been making recordings for the last... I'm tempted to say ten years or
so. In addition to _Destroy Me, Lover_, _Stimulation Festival_, and _Born
in Blood_, they also released a couple of other albums _Case Histories_ (which
is included in the _Born in Blood_ CD) and a self-titled LP. They also have
a slew of cassette releases, which they've been kicking around the idea of
re-releasing on CDs. Let's see, what else... they also have a 7" on the
SubPop Singles Club, and they also have another 7" on which they do a really
great cover of Zeni Geva's "Sweetheart". I've seen a handful of reviews and
such in the UK music magazine _New Musical Express_, and they've even been
written up a couple of German fanzines. Oh, yeah, I was talking to Bliss
Blood a little while back, and apparently the FM station in Zagreb, Croatia
is playing _Stimulation Festival_ - "Shallow Hole" is apparently the local
favorite....
And for the complete Pain Teens collector, they have three songs on a CD
compilation called _Manifestation_ (which also features a tape loop experiment
by guitarist Scott Ayers' solo outing).

And another thing - over this past summer, the Pain Teens toured the States
with the Boredoms, and they played a gig in NYC with John Zorn's Painkiller.
Saw the snapshots from that tour. Must have been quite a lot of fun....
Final bit of useless Pain Teens trivia - Bliss Blood went to the same high
school as Lyle Lovett.

btw it is told that the Pain Teens are going to tour Europe with Brutal Truth
(!) + some Japcore band. Should be a pretty intense (+strange) package.
Shit that I missed their first Euro tour. Nobody wanted to see them (maybe
5 people or so) and I decided to leave since entrance was very high :-(
Has somebody the lyrics to their songs. Since I'm not a native English speaker
I have many problems to understand everything through listening.

saw them monday opening for fudgetunnell (easily the best band in the world).
i didn't like them much, but i was in the minority among the people i was with.
fudgetunnell was unreal. this is what rock-n-roll was supposed to be like.
