What we have:
-- Limited pkill (if you want to see more about it, read note *1)
-- 14 professions, 2 as secondary only, 3 as alien professions.
(Knight, Wizard, Healer, Barbarian, Monk, Bard, Paladin, Ranger,
Assassin, Hunter, Philosopher, Engineer, Archmage, Druid)
-- Skills for professions (still sparse, being added to all the time),
like singable songs for bards, berserk and primal grunt for barbarians...
-- Footprint tracking system (washed away when it rains). Weather
effects, and clothing warmth/specific bodypart protection.
-- No rent; a recall command that costs money and experience. (It's
*not* an easy mud, but there are a few conveniences).
-- Many auto-toggles, configurable colors, ground combat, weapons types
(a chain shirt might protect better for slashing than a studded leather
breastplate, but worse against concussion).
-- An organized, controlled atmosphere (gods don't cheat, we don't put up
with problem characters, we enforce the few logical rules that we have)
-- A few mob-run quests, with a full script language waiting to be utilized.
Builders can work on a seperate port. Building is done online, and has
full overhead mapping and floating editors.
-- All the conveniences you expect; lockers, floating prompts, grouping
and melee/casting ranges, group notify, banks, etc...
I don't claim it's "the best" or the "state of the art" mud, but I urge you
to try it; it's different, challenging, and many people enjoy what it has
to offer. delta.misha.net, port 4444, or simply misha.net 4444. Thanks
to misha.net for the superb site! T1, 196 megs of ram, parallel processing
Sun computer; http://www.misha.net for more info :)
Note on Pkilling *1: The mud has pkilling, although at all levels under 10
you are protected from being pkilled by Aturions. At level 30, you may
"turn into" an Aturion, who focus on pkilling all humanoid races. There
are a few players who are aturion to keep you on your toes. The system
is similar to MUME's or Midpoint Void's; you simply see * An Aturion * when
you make the encounter. Pkill between others is not tolerated. The only
reason is revenge for looting (with proof from the "investigate" skill,
which tells who looted, and how the victim died). Anyway, it's a lot easier
than is sounds. Info on it is available under 'help pkilling' and/or
'help rules' when you enter the mud.
Oh, and we have all the goodies players love; freezing, drowning, starvation,
dehydration, avalanches, falling rocks, breaking bridges, pits, thin ice, etc.
(There are no 'instant' death traps, although there are two spots in existence
where you can possibly have no chance to escape from if you don't use the
right skill, or don't know the right skill).... but two rooms in 7000 isn't
that bad a ratio...
Oh well, I'm rambling... .... ....... .... . .. . .
