I find Harry Houdini's films slightly betray his mystique.
To think of him and imagine his tricks, one endows him with
superhuman status. To actually see him on film, one sees
a rather ordinary man following leading man protocol at the
time but adding exotic stunts that he looks ordinary performing.
Besides, its a movie. Though he performs his own stunts, it is not
necessary to make a movie successful.
