Hi all,
I was reading Boaz's review of Depth of Field and found a comment about
the artwork for EWS poster.

---
It should be noted that Kubrick lost
the battle over the poster art; the frame blowup of Cruise and
Kidman's reflection in the mirror against a purple background was
never approved nor considered for use by Kubrick, but the estate had no

choice in that matter. Katharina has gone on the record here on AMK
that her dad would have "fought tooth and nail" to use the artwork
he had had in mind, and which had been created by Christiane.
---

I wasn't able to find the original post by Katharina. Could someone
point it out for me? Or Boaz, or even KCKH, please could you better
elaborate on this?

Thanks.
Filippo

I thought I saw something on Christiane's website
http://www.christianekubrick.com

Maybe Katharina will pop in and help.

I think there is a photo of it in the book "Stanley Kubrick : The
Archives" although from what I recall the caption says that it was
designed by Christiane but not what Kubrick had in mind -- it shows
Cruise and Kidman's faces in front of a red background with their eyes
cut out. It was a bit naff. No offense.

The caption says, "This proposal for the film's poster, designed by
Katharina Kubrick Hobbs and Christiane Kubrick, was rejected in favor
of a design more clearly showing the film's two stars."
