My first bike

Hi all,

I first drove a bike when I turned 18 (yonks ago), which is the legal
age in India for motorcycling on public roads. After 17 years of
riding, largely on measly 100 cc two and four-stroke bikes, I shifted
here to Dubai in '03. Although I got myself a license shortly
thereafter, I didn't drive a bike. Until today, i.e.

I went and bought a 2005 Yamaha FZ10 with 9600 km on the clock. I
couldn't believe the ease with which I could drive this bike around -
okay, today and the next 3 days are holidays hereabouts, so there's
little or no traffic. Being short, I already know that managing this
210 kg machine at traffic lights or any situation where I've to get it
to a halt will pose challenges but I hope to listen and learn from
y'all in how to manage the weight and any other thing that you'd
advise anyone in a comparable situation as mine.

It doesn't have a fuel injection system but carburettors, and I don't
know how much of a disadvantage that is going to be. Right now, the
bike feels so superlative that I couldn't care what's in the
powerplant, etc. :)

Oh and one definite feeling I had on Day 1 - and I don't know how best
to describe that feeling - is that the bike seemed to be in locations
on the road faster than my mind was :)

Any / all suggestions, general and FZ10-specific, would be truly
welcome gratefully acknowledged.
