Well it must be our week of Winter! I better put the sweatshirt back
in the bags.

This morning I had to put on long pants and sandals to wash and wax
the scoot. Saturday and Sunday was shorts and no shoes as usual. Got
the new rear motor mount on. Man that thing was beat to hell!!! It's
kind of a pain on a Dyna(97 FXDS)as ya gots to get behind the exhaust
to get at the thru bolt nuts on that side. At least she didn't bitch
when I asked her to hold the nut whilst I turned the bolt.(BG) Got
the rear master cylinder filled up again, it's back there too and just
need to readjust the actuator rod for pedal travel.

Next is replace the front springs with the new Progressives I got for
free when I bought the rear shocks. I need to pick up a small bench
grinder so I can put a buffing wheel on it for tuning up the shiny
bits, like front forks, from time to time.

Also need to take the metal bits off the backside of the windshield to
sand and repaint them. Anyone know what they use for a cushion on em?
Looks kinda like a butyl, but might just be cloth friction tape.

Gotta find the time to take the tank off and see if I got enough slack
in the wiring to put on some risers I got. Be a good time to put the
power lead for the handle bar lighter socket into the wiring harness
too. Comes in handy like for charging the phone or using the GPS.

Geez, I hate to stop ridin while I do this stuff. Anyone want to give
me a bike so I have two and can still ride when I'm wrenchin in the
Winter?

Anyhooooo, Shirley a round for those that read this far and wants to
drink with me. Make mine a Beam and Coke.
(Whisper on) Put on Kickstarts tab.

We're lookin' at 23 here tonight . This might be a good time to pull the
forks down for a seal change . Hey , I might even take the time to diagnose
the cruise control this winter ...

Lessee, I got the tranny back together on Lynn's Superglide. It's in the
bike and waiting on gaskets/seals for the primary. LInkage and plumbing for
the floorboards is done too.
Managed to get the tourpak for the Evo Tourglide painted and back on the
bike(after like 2 years). Got a box of seals and gaskets under the bench to
fix it's primary leak next.
The Shovel's all nice and shiny and sitting under a cover. All I gots to do
to it is change the oil come spring and she'll be ready to rock.
Hell, I got so bored I even cleaned my shop. You can actually set a beer on
the workbench without moving anything.

42 degrees here and a rare clear day. Nice after weeks of
just-barely-not-snow. I'm thinking of taking the bike into work. On
winter projects, I'm collecting some exhaust parts to swap in,
gradually switching to a removable tour pack a piece at a time,
(faring FM antenna, quick-connect harness and finally quick release
kit -- I found one that locks) and intend to do that oil temp sensor
install and gauge switch-around that we talked about here a few months
back. Some parts of the above projects depend on company bonus due
February. Oh, and my first try at touch-up painting. Good thing the
garage is dry. Not terribly warm, though.

Yeah, I know there are places where "winter" means it's a little less
hot. I used to live in Phoenix, rode year round except for the
monsoon. The thing about living in a place where water actually comes
from the sky is that there's more green to break up the monotony, so
it's worth waiting out the less pleasant weather.
