Old photo so not that I need this kind of weather protection anymore
for my short rides @30 degree temps but some of you'all may. BTW,
we're experiencing a cold snap & rain with 30-45 degree temps and
windy, plus a foot of new snow in AZ's high country.

I just got back from up your way. I was in Rockford Ill for bidness.
I felt like I was at the north pole. The sudden foot of snow wasn't
so bad. The minus 6 with 40 mph winds will put a chill on yer ass
though...

Yup, the weather has sucked the last 4-5 days.

It's what you're used to. -6 F = -21 C isn't bad.

-20 C temps are cold but as long as you have decent clothing, hat and mitts
and its not too windy (sheltered in the bush/forest) its fine as long as
your moving (walking, skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding). I get concerned
when the temps get to -30 C or below - frostbite in minutes or seconds if
there's even a breeze; got to plug in the car (engine block heaters are
standard here). Of course -30 C is nothing to an Eskimo (Inuit). I
remember -40 F/C being fairly common back in the day. Things sound different
at those temps. The snow is different. Breathing becomes almost painful.
I've been in -50s too. That was ridiculous by my standard but just another
day to the Inuit who could work on their snowmobile engines (think bare
hands touching steel/gas) and not be bothered. Of course the skin on their
hands is twice as thick as yours or mine.

Enjoy your football and be happy you're not actually at the North Pole or
even north of Illinois.

Give me the desert or the cold or both, at least there ain't no
fucking cockroaches or other slimey things.

I've lived in Labrador, been to Calgary in January, I've been to the
desert at 117f, Florida and Arkansas with the ticks and fleas.

Yeah, I am California dreaming....
