So I am looking for any ideas people might have as to how to make the
most of my time with K. I dont drive so excursions are out of the
question (apart from our local town centre or the park). K is 2 1/2. I
have tomorrow to get neccessary supplies in.
Saturday night is going to be my night with take-away pizza and a video.
Also I shall have Radio Le Mans on the PC going from 3pm BST (local
time) saturday for 24 hours but other activities can go on at the same
time. England is playing football 12:30pm on the Saturday as well.
So.... any ideas please?

Get a box, a bit box, and make it into a house. She will love playing in
and out of that for hours! She can help you decorate it with crayons or
markers.
Some arts/crafts ideas:
Hand/foot prints in plaster
finger paints
necklaces made out of macaronis and/or cold cereals
make a welcome home dad banner/poster
Picnic on the living room floor [put the animals out!].
sticker books?
make jello together
break some rules - she'll love it.

Make and decorate cookies...always goes over wonderfully at my house!!

Baking cookies or cupcakes (good activity while listening to the
radio). Blowing bubbles in the bathtub followed by rubbing baby
lotion into each other. Dancing to music. Painting toe nails and/or
face painting. Cleaning out a closet (the discovery of all those
"interesting" things they don't usually see can be fun).

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

What splendid ideas Aula! I wish we had managed to bring home the box that my
new monitor came in but you know what the 200 SX (240 SX in U.S?) is like. It
was amazing we got the monitor home at all! Still, Im sure there is somethng
in the loft.
We did plaster footprints (and sea shells)on Monday! we can paint them this
weekend. I love the welcome home banner and the cereal necklaces and we can
definitely do the picnic (especially as she likes things like olives and blue
cheese which make me happy!)
Thankyou :)

:) Baking is always good. I hadnt thought of blowing bubbles in the bath and
she *loves* baths. I like the baby lotion idea as well.
Also painting toenails is good, we always have fun coloured toes and I could
look for something special (glitter maybe).
Sadly, thanks to FlyLady our closets arent that exciting anymore.
Thanks Janet!

Baking cupcakes has been mentioned but did you know you can use cake batter
and bake cupcakes in ice cream cones??? Always fun - decorating them too.
When I was very little my mom used to cut strips of colored construction
paper and we would glue the ends to form a circle and link them together and
make huge paper chains (not sure for what purpose, but it sure was fun).
Videos she's never seen ... is it warm there??? You can put washable paint
in the throw away silver tins and let her 'paint' footprints all over a big
piece of paper. If you google ... Chef Rhonda (I think) posted a whole
bunch of ideas/recipes for kiddie activities (I specifically remember some
kind of stuff that starts like a solid and 'melts' into a liquid). Have
fun!!

If you don't mind a little mess:
Flour paints: Mix some flour, water and dry kool-aid (for color) and let
her go to town with a brush.
It washes up very easily :-)
An indoor "sandbox". Dump uncooked, dry rice into a box. You can add dry
beans, also.
Get some interesting books at the library to read to her.

As a child I always enjoyed building "tents" with a flat sheet that hung off
the back of two chairs or over a table like a tablecloth. It's especially
fun to do at night with a flashlight and if you mind telling "scary" stories
or read some books like "Where the Wild Things are." Could make some
s'mores for the tent thing too! ... and sing some songs :)
Cereal necklaces are a lot of fun 'cause you can eat them. Could make the
macroni necklace as a "lea" for DH when he comes home. Paint the elbows
different colors :)
With the closet & toenail painting idea Janet suggested you can play dress
up and do each other's make-up if you have any you don't mind getting messed
(like a lipstick breaking).
Making paper dolls are fun. Could, if you have popcicle sticks or something
similiar, make "puppets" with your paper dolls by glueing to sticks and
putting on a wee show or something.

Those are cool ideas Jen, I especially like the paper dolls and puppet show, we
could turn Aulas big box idea into a puppet thingummy on the Sunday and have
rehearsals before Daddy comes home.
Not sure about scary stories though. Tuesday I got half way through the proper
Jack and the Beanstalk and Katherine got really!

:) Good ideas Nan, thankyou!! If the weather improves tomorrow we might be
able to use our outdoor sandpit and turn it into a race track for all her
cars. We got new library books out this week (we always do shes a bookaholic!)
