The Department of Defense announced today the death of a
soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Staff SSgt. Joshua R. Townsend, 30, of Solvang , Calif. ,
died Jan. 16 in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan , of injuries sustained in a
non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion,
7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg , N.C.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are under
investigation.
