Women in the Marine Corps lay down the law

(EXCERPT) Submitted by: Marine Forces Pacific Story Identification
Number: 200337145236 Story by Cpl. Luis R. Agostini

CAMP H. M. SMITH, Hawaii(March 7, 2003) -- There are times when a
military policeman, charged with the responsibilities of preserving
order, protecting property and enforcing regulations, may be
confronted with the challenge of apprehending a suspect who outweighs
him by 25, 50, 75, even 100 pounds. The MP may be shorter by a foot or
more, and the MP might not be half as strong as the aggressor, who
could possibly be under the influence of alcohol.

That MP could very well be a woman.

Three female MPs, Sgts. Sharlene Davis, Amber Shipley and Melinda
Wruble, patrol supervisors with the Marine Corps Base Hawaii Provost
Marshal's Office, Camp Smith District, brace themselves for that
possibility each day.

"When you're on your way to answering a call, like a domestic dispute,
yeah, you get nervous," said Davis, a Mesa, Ariz., native. "But once
you get on the scene, all of your training and everything you've done
to prepare for this kind of thing kicks in."

All three sergeants received major support when they chose to enter
the military law enforcement field. However, not all three followed
the same path.

Davis originally opted for Crash Fire Rescue, but during recruit
training, she was notified that she would be reporting to Military
Police School at Fort McClelle, Ala.

Wruble, a Marine of six and a half years, had dreamed of becoming
involved in law enforcement long before the Marine Corps was an
option. After graduating high school, however, she found herself
unqualified to become a police officer because she did not meet the
minimum age requirement. One of the only possible venues for her to
enter law enforcement at the time was through the United States Marine
Corps, and even at that point, her desire to wear the badge tested her
patience.

"I spoke with a (Marine Corps) recruiter and told him that I wanted to
be a Marine and an MP," said Wruble. "At the time, there weren't any
slots available for MP school. I refused to sign any papers until I
got my seat in the school. I think me being so adamant about getting
the job that I wanted impressed my recruiter to the point that he kept
looking for a seat, until four months later, I finally got a seat, and
then I enlisted."

Shipley, a Spearfish, S.D., native, and recent recipient of a Navy
Achievement Medal for her outstanding performance during times of
heightened force protection, chose the path of a military law enforcer
because "it was the most interesting field to me. I feel that it's one
of the closest ways that a female can get to a combat environment."

The three Marines, whom at one point or another have served as watch
commander, have received guidance, inspiration and mentorship from
different sources, from former instructors to spouses currently
serving their country.

"My husband (Sgt. Joshua Wruble, 1st Platoon Sgt., 3rd Battalion, 3rd
Marine Regiment) is my mentor," revealed Wruble, who, from March 1997
through November 2000, served as a security guard for Marine
Helicopter Squadron 1 (HMX-1), the only organization responsible for
direct helicopter support of the White House.

"When I come home and tell him about a situation that may have
occurred, he's there to share insight on the potential thought process
of a male Marine, and how a male may have responded, or thought, at
the time."

"The person that probably helped me out the most was Gunnery Sgt.
Rosalia Scifo, who was one of my instructors at MP school," said
Davis. " She gave me a lot of guidance while I was down there, and it
helped, coming from a great female Marine like her."

Their working relationships with seniors, subordinates and peers have
been rewarding as well as challenging.

Whether it's inspecting a delivery truck, enforcing command
regulations or checking identification cards at the front gate, the
female MPs protect and serve alongside their Marine Corps
brothers-in-arms.

"My gunny and lieutenant are great; they're awesome," said Shipley.
"They're very supportive of everything we do, regardless of our
gender."

"Maj. John Manson, Gunnery Sgt. Kevin Smyers and I have a si...

Notice to new readers/users of alt.military.police :

Please note that one, "Otis Willie" is a pseudonym... as in a COMPLETELY
FICTIOUS NAME. Likewise, the site of "The American War Library"
(www.americanwarlibrary.com) is nothing less than a lure to sucker GI's...
ex-GI's and GI's families and any other person attempting to use its so-called
services.

Please note!! Visiting the site will easily prove the above to the discerning
eye. For example, the site "offers" replacement award and citation medal
certificates. If one views the copies of the certificates, it's soon very
obvious that they are fakes... as in NON-official DD, DA or other Department of
Defense branch forms. Some appear similar to actual certificates; but most are
a homemade version.

WARNING: To obtain any of the certificates (that ARE fakes), a copy of the
servicemember's DD Form 214 is required -- in addition to ridiculous payment
fees! Would you give your Social Security Number away?!?!?! Remember, service
memebers after the draft ended, have a Serial Number that IS their Social
Security Number!!

Likewise, the "memorial photo" section of the (BARF) library, has pictures of
the sites originator and current operator, one Otis Willie who is ACTUALLY
Phillip Coleman... a SUPPOSED Vietnam Vet an con artist. At least one
California District Attorney's Office is quite familiar with Mr. Coleman's
SCAM.

Regular members of this newsgroup have agreed to do what we can to stop this
clown. BE VERY CAUTIOUS IF YOU VISIT HIS SITE... some of his links that say
that you will get "Free Software" to peruse his [fake] library, will result in
an *.exe (as in an EXECUTION) file to be placed onto YOUR hard drive. We are
not certain what this file might do to anyone's system... but NEVER.... EVER
let ANYONE install an .exe file onto your system!!!

As long as Phil Coleman, aka Otis Willie (and about a dozen other names)
continues to post here, we WILL make his scams public knowledge.
I am currently the "moderator" for this group and as a registered student of
Computer Forensics, I am MOST eager to dissect the "library's" files. I may
use his site as a final class project. :) Ironic if the guy gets busted
because of a forensic student, eh?

Secret Stuff,

Phillip Coleman, aka Otis Willie, aka Brook Rowland and numerous other names
that are associated with this Coleman guy has been turned in by numerous news
groups and sites. He has been taken to court a time or two and we believe the
reason he puts the disclaimer in the middle of a story is to try to thwart the
law and still be able to lure customers to his web site which he then asks you
for money to get you to use a non toll free number that you have to pay to get
on his BBS (bulletin board service). He is out to make any kind of ill gotten
money that he can. He's worse than a Welfare shammer which he probably also
collects.

two words stun gun...but it's probably too inhumane to use. I hate the way
law enforcement and military hands are tied.
It can't continue or we are ALL DONE.

THANK YOU WHITE HAT
i'm so glad I didn't open his link. What a worthless piece of shit he is. A
predator. The lowest form of life to target service people and their
families.
