Just one question:
Where the hell have all my memory / processor cycles / Hard disk space gone?
: )
Seriously, I want to know what part of WinXP it is that eats up so much of
my machines memory!! What extra functionality does XP give that cannot be
achieved in Win98 using a lot less processor cycles and memory??
The answer would seem to be none!
Im *very* unimpressed!

I'll trade you my 166Mhz with Win 98 on it....no?...well, I tried. :-)
I wouldnt worry too much, though. Microsoft is STILL supporting Win98 with
updates, so XP will be heavily supported long past its prime.

Have you checked to see what gets loaded up at bootup?
WinXP has much more plumbing than Win98. Goto Administrative
Tools in Control Panel and explore. Lots of Windows services
to learn about.
How much stuff do you have running in your SysTray after a
boot? Anti-Virus programs will slow things down.

I'm not qualified to answer, nor would I spend my time
spoon-feeding you even if I could enlighten you. What's
stopping you from going back to Win98? Or you can learn about
partitioning and dual-boot if you decide to install 98
along-side WinXP.
Comparing WinXP to Win98 is like comparing Los Angeles to
your little home town (Win98). So you're having trouble
getting around? Give yourself some time, or give up now.
It's not going to get simpler in the future (computer-wise).
Have Fun,
