A Brief Introduction to Yuanji Science
--------------------------------------

Based upon an integration of various traditional Chinese schools
which study human beings and Nature, Yuanji Science (YS)
incorporates a systematic approach to the relationship between
mind, body, energy, and Nature. It offers a health-maintenance
and healing system that has proven particularly easy to
learn and, in many cases, has been applauded as immediately
effective in improving health.

One of the applications of YS is the Yuanji Exercises (a
form of Qigong/Tai Chi). It traces back 800 years to the Court of
the Yuan Dynasty. Over the years the principle and practice of
Yuanji were held secretly. But in 1988, Mr. Zhang Zhixiang
revealed these family secrets and founded the Chinese Society of
Yuanji Science (CSYS) as a means to spread its benefits and
promote scientific research on it.

According to Yuanji theory, Yuanji mind/body/energy
exercises and therapy harmonize the Yin-Yang systems of the body
and create a better health and a clear intellect. Scientifically
speaking, these exercises rejuvenate the pineal gland, which in
turn leads to hormonal balance and the development of the
intellect. With persistent cultivation, our mind/body/energy
system can be opened up and be connected, step by step, with the
environment and Nature.

Since 1988, YS has been taught to over 2 million people in
China and there are currently Yuanji Centers in 18 countries
worldwide. Today, over 50 universities and other research
institutions in China are collaborating with CSYS actively
conducting academic research on the scientific/medical and
socio-cultural contributions of YS. YS has been officially
recognized by China's national science authorities as a new
interdisciplinary science, and CSYS, as a national academic
institution.

In 1993, Mr. Zhang was included in the 11th edition of THE
INTERNATIONAL WHO'S WHO OF INTELLECTUALS for his "Outstanding
Contribution to Civilization." His visit to the United States
will constitute the first time he has consented to travel
overseas, despite standing invitations from 36 nations around the
world. We wish him a very successful visit to America and look
forward to a new international development of YS.

SEMINAR ON YUANJI SCIENCE

This seminar will provide an overview of the historical
origin and theoretical foundation of Yuanji Science (YS)
represented by the Yuanji Diagram. Topics to be covered include
how YS is used to achieve harmony, through the Yuanji Exercises
and Therapy, on physical, Qi (bioenergy), mental (spiritual),
social, and environmental levels. Furthermore, the scientific and
socio-cultural contributions of YS will also be discussed.
At the end of the senimar, Professor Zhang will lead a
session of Energy Coordination in which one may obtain an
experiential understanding of these concepts.

AHN-LEVEL YUANJI COURSE

This 12 hour course will provide a comprehensive description and
practical applications of Yuanji Science with a focus on two of
these: the Yuanji Exercises and Yuanji Therapy. The course will
first introduce Yuanji Mantra -i.e., the Ten Embryonic Sounds:
Ahn, Jin, Mi, Pi, Ji, Ba, Ya, Yin, Hua, Ding- describe its
background, and how it is performed. The course will then teach
the Ahn-Level Yuanji Sitting Exercise, selected sections of the
Yuanji Moving Exercise, and Yuanji Self-Massage.These exercises
take into account the concept of the Yuanji Inner and Outer
Charts in which mind/body energy is centered and exchanged with
environment and Nature.
As one of the natural healing methods used in Yuanji
Therapy, an energy empowerment (Guan-Ding) will be performed by
Professor Zhang during the course. In addition, there will also
be Energy Coordinations throughout the course.

Note: A certificate will be issued at the end of the course by
the American Society of Yuanji Science
