deal or is it not worth it?
I have been to one once and it was great, unfortunately, the effects didn't
last very long and by the time I called them again, they had gone out of
business I was looking for another massage therapist in CT before I moved
here, but I gave up.
Speaking of which, my search is kind of a funny story. I looked in the
phone book and every listing of massage therapy that I called would ring a
million times, when someone would answer they were always foreign females.
They all told me they had no more appts available, at all. I was so
frustrated, b/c I just wanted a massage and I was desperate enough to pay
for it, so how could there be no appts?
Well, I remembered there was a 'Massage' sign over a store a couple miles
from our condo. I didn't call first b/c I didn't know the name of the place
to look it up. Next I called my friend and asked if she wanted to come with
me and so we went.
We walked through the door into a hallway with a camera looking straight at
us and thousands of bumper stickers on the wall that say stuff like 'We love
police', 'Support Your Local DEA', etc...
You probably know where I am going with this, but at the time it still did
not occur to me exactly what this place was. I was just thinking, 'ew, I
hope it's not like this inside their office.'
We walked down the hall and tried to open the door, but it was locked, so I
knocked. When someone shouted 'who's there' from inside, always oh so
polite I shouted back 'my friend and I would like a massage please!'.
A little chinese lady came to the door and opened it just enough to poke her
head out, but that's all we needed. Over her head, we could see the bottom
half of a naked man on a table. I was so shocked I just stared, but my
friend screamed 'Oh my god, it's a whore house!' and ran the other way.
Little chinese lady looked behind her as the legs on the table moved and the
man ran and hid. When she turned her head I followed my friend and ran too.
No wonder nobody had any appts, they were handjob parlors for men!
I still can't believe this never occured to me. But then again, this is GA,
not CT, maybe it works differently here? Hmmmm.....
Now, where's that phonebook...

Sorry you had this experience. I am a qualified therapist - Holistics. A
good way to find a REAL therapist is to phone your local college - see if
they have a hair and beauty department and see if the students are ready to
take clients, This way, you help someone who is training, you get a good
massage in a safe environment and at a very reasonable cost you really can't
go wrong!
I am currently studying for my Diploma in Advanced Aromatherapy, and we are
taking clients at present - It costs £7.00 for a full aromatherapy massage
at college! Not bad, ay!

Colorado Springs I could see it as that use to be the city with the most
'massage palors' per capita ever........and I do not mean the type of massage we
all are looking for.
But yes massage is great I love having one & it helps me alot when I am in a
flare. It is just expensive........& insurance doesn't cover it........wish it
did. So keep looking & you will find a legitimate one......

I wish I was outside when you and your friend emerged with horrified
expressions on your faces... I would have died laughing.... but then again I
am a native new yorker... and I know better.... the yellow pages is filled
with ads for "escorts" and "massages"... but I know better then to call
;^)
seriously though....you might want to call a local health club or spa ...
they are more likely to have a legitimate masseuse on staff.... no pun
intended :^)

from! One way to screen out the masseuse/masseur from the massage therapist,
is to look for a place that does MASSAGE THERAPY. Not 'full body massage'
(although some professional massage therapists still call Swedish massage
therapy full body), but massage therapy. Sexual massagers don't use the T
word! :D
Schools, spas, resorts have been mentioned before, and they're excellent
places to start. Also sports facilities, and you can call a local medical
doctor, chiropractor, or physical therapist. Many of them are starting to
work closely with massage therapists, and can refer you to a good one! More
and more insurance is covering massage therapy in accident/injury cases,
maybe you can get your doctor to refer you, and get it covered that way?
Some massage therapists will process insurance claims, others won't...
Hope this helps, I know what a shock it can be to be suprised by the seedier
