My Little Weeping Willow Hope Tree
Today you were planted
with hope and a prayer
and
I will watch you grow
Each and everyday I research
for the answers I need
and
I will watch you grow
I will listen and share tears
and offer soft hugs
and
I will watch you grow
Will you still be
my little weeping willow tree
or
will you be tall and strong
when
there is a cure for ME
I will watch you grow

The "Topics In The Digest" that DGSABA posts regularly only have a link to
reply to the original authors' e-mail addys. They don't show what the
original authors' posts were *about*. So, unfortunately, they're a pretty
useless waste of space and of DGSABA's posting time. If you'd like to READ
the things posted on Co-Cure, just go to the Co-Cure website at
http://www.co-cure.org/ and click on Co-Cure Message Board about half way
down on the left. Scroll down 'til you see Go To Message Board and click on
there. Also, try here. It might be a direct link
http://co-cure.org/wwwboard/
Their posting guidelines are good. Here's an exerpt:
"The Co-Cure Message Board is open to all persons with chronic fatigue
syndrome, fibromyalgia, and related illnesses; therefore, the following are
some basic courtesies for participating:
Be respectful and considerate to persons with differing points of view. If
we all thought and felt the same way, life would truly be a bore.
Abusive remarks and flames directed at other participants are not acceptable
and will be removed from the system.
Commercial advertising, pyramid schemes, spams, and similar material is not
permitted and for obvious reasons.
Do not post in all capitals as this is considered SHOUTING. If shifting for
capitals slows you down, then just type in lower case.
Do not post the same message in different discussion groups (cross posting)
because no matter how important your message is to you, other folks don't
have the energy to read the same message five or six times.
Do enjoy yourself, make some new friends, and visit often."
Take GOOD Care,
Jane

CFSCC/Advisory Committee Status
[permission to forward in its entirety]
It has been confirmed by senior people at DHHS who are connected with CFS
issues, that the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Coordinating Committee (CFSCC)
still exists and has not been abolished or disbanded. The Charter remains
intact and is valid through September 5, 2002. DHHS is in the process of
forming a CFS Advisory Committee, yet there is no reason why the CFSCC could
not have continued and held meetings until such time as the Advisory
Committee was formally in place. In fact, in spite of the four member
vacancy, there seems to be no reason why the CFSCC could not meet anytime
up until the expiration date. The last CFSCC meeting was the Seattle meeting
in January, 2001.
From the information we have received, there may be some advantages to the
Advisory Committee. However, the information we received may by no means be
complete and could not be considered official. No one should have to take
our word for it - information should be forthcoming from the agencies
involved or from their official representatives.
The patient community has a right to know and should be directly informed of
what changes will be made and more importantly how any changes will affect
the committee in terms of structure and function. Patients deserve to be
appraised of how the fate of this committee will be determined to ensure
that any changes made will not downgrade the committee in a manner which
would only serve to diminish its profile and potential for progress.
It is particularly important regarding the selection of members that the
patient community know who is responsible for making such decisions and how
decisions will be made. Overall, a committee's productivity primarily
reflects the knowledge, commitment and abilities of the members who compose
it. The secret and undemocratic selection process of the CFSCC members as
revealed by documents obtained through FOIA, which has allowed for
unbalanced representation of the membership, could have significantly
contributed to its failure which was confirmed by the GAO report.
From the information we have received, given the procedures and protocols
which are necessary to establish this Advisory Committee, it appears
unlikely that it could possibly meet before next fall or winter. We believe
that a CFSCC meeting should be held in the meantime to clarify and discuss
these critical issues and to allow the Name Change workgroup the opportunity
to continue their efforts. We are hopeful that this administration will take
responsibility and provide the critical leadership and direction necessary
to to ensure future progress and to restore the trust of the patient
community.

Here is a link to a recent news report done on our Chronic Fatigue Study by
NBC. The patient in the story improved dramatically with the Procrit
treatment. We still need many more participants, so please help me get the

The study requires bimonthly visits to our office, so travel can be an issue
for many. We have had patients from all over the state of Florida, and many
use the Tri-Rail/Metro Rail to reach us, we are located steps from the Civic
Center Station in Miami.

This is pure crapolla!!........it's one of her ''M.O.'s'' (method

scare tactics that hold no validity whatsoever!!
YOu will note that ''her'' post of such ''convesation'' details ONLY the
made-up conversation!!..........
There are no headers, paths, email addresses, etc., to validate squat!!
She has typed//written this all by her little self, hoping that someone
would fall for it; hook, line and sinker; and, then added some links
for added ''Friday-nite'' freight!!
In short, she believes that EVERYONE is as gullable as she is, and will
believe everything they read!! NOT!!!!! We of the sane world, happen
to have more smarts than this!! <G>
In short, this is nothing more than her hairbrained idea of a
''B-rated'' play for the local theatre, with a cast of ''many'', who are
all played by none other than our resident ''Cybil'' here!! (aka
dgsaba.......many faces; MANY personalities!!) Boy, is she gonna be
busy memorizing all these parts!!! Whew!!! I sure hope she uses
Q-cards.......otherwise, she's bound to get the FBI mixed up with the
Girl Scouts, or something!!!
Let us know when the tickets are at the boxoffice, Diana!! This is one
staged play of yours that I just have to see!!! It's worth the 3 hour
trip to Tennessee even if I have to sit in the balcony!! LOL!!! :>))
Are ya ready for Branson yet?? hahahaha!!!

A little trick I learned from a local council office worker, just wiggle a
long screwdriver in the slot at the back of the poota box till something
gives off sparks. Either it works or..... ;-}
[ NOTE! THIS IS A JOKE! DO NOT DO THIS! :-0]
Actually....
I took notice of your comments about how things appeared in Opera and
realised I had not done enough testing on the old page templates. The new
code has been tested under Opera using various settings and under Lynx too
to make sure it all lines up ok when only basic html is rendered.
I did make a few minor boo-boos with the new templates and only noticed
them once I'd uploaded the whole site. DOH! While I was fixing this I
figured out a little trick with column sizes that means that when tables
are turned off or not used (as with Lynx) the columns actually span the
whole page as paragraphs/ Neat eh!? {size="*" for the page menu column.
Simple huh?}
I'm so please it worked. If you do notice anything else that could be
improved, do let me know. I'm off to bask in the bestowed glory before I
find out nothing appears in M$ browsers or something! ;-}

Name Change Proposal and Awareness
[permission to forward]
Given the many name change debates and surveys, patients have favored using
the term myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME). This seems to have been the
overall consensus over time. Last year we put up the petition, along with
RESCIND, to call for the recognition of ME. Finally patient's requests have
been considered and were reflected in the proposal put forth by the name
change workgroup (NCW).
The NCW has finally presented a real, viable opportunity for the name change
effort. We see this proposal first and foremost as a means by which to get
official recognition for ME and we are working with the NCW to get
some clarifications and improve upon some of the content and wording of the
draft proposal. And most importantly, it calls for the recognition of ME
as originally described by Ramsay, NOT just as another name for CFS.
Simply changing the name at this point will not solve our problems. There
has been unfortunately considerable misinformation regarding the NCW
proposal, particularly that it was putting forth chronic
neuroendocrineimmune dysfunction syndrome (CNDS) as the new name for CFS,
but this is not the case.
At ALL conferences and meetings the need for the identification of subgroups
has been viewed as critical and this proposal takes the much needed first
step. The workgroup took a sound, simple and logical approach - to pull
out of CFS that which could be recognized and identified at this point,
without getting into renaming or redefining anything.
Most importantly, even beyond the name, there has been considerable harm
done by confusing ME with other entities. Unfortunately, at this point, many
simply believe and have been told that ME is JUST another name for CFS,
which is why it is critical to implement these recommendations. Separating
the two clearly indicates that they are not. Up until now, those who
fulfill the Fukuda criteria and are given a diagnosis of CFS might not even
have cognitive difficulties or post-exertional malaise but still meet the
criteria. Certainly, those who defined these criteria were unfamiliar with
the basic symptoms of ME.
This recommendation may not solve all our problems but it represents a much
needed step in the right direction. Not the least of which, - even if
NOTHING else occurs in research - those with "true" ME will not be expected
to exercise their way to health.
Regardless of what umbrella term is selected, or even if one is ever
selected, the sub-groups as recommended, particularly ME, need
to be recognized, be introduced into our dialogue, our conversations with
physcians, our interviews with the media, and our advice to researchers.
The US made a big mistake in introducing CFS. The past cannot be changed,
but the implementation of these recommendations could be our way of
beginning to undo the problems it has caused by officially helping to give
ME - in its original form - back to the rest of the world. If these
recommendations are accepted, it will in fact gain official recognition and
provide a good opportunity to get the attention of the medical community,
media and general public, and thereby increase understanding and raise
awareness.
This name change recommendation, which includes ME - made by an officially
appointed federal committee - could be the ultimate awareness project. Do
we want to continue to look for the perfect name or solution, which may not
exist, or continue to argue about it for another decade? Or meanwhile waste
more time constantly explaining and continuing to correct and protest all
the misinformation or misunderstandings of CFS?
Protest may be warranted and effective under certain circumstances. But lets
not allow protest to become the only thing we know how to do and the only
way we know how to respond. Perhaps we should try more general awareness
and look to determine how to prevent things which may not be in our best
interests from happening which we will have to protest.
Patients need to continue to support this endeavor, seize this opportunity,
and move on. Here's to a better and healthier future.

The book, Stupid White Men, is way up on several best-sellers lists. We got
a copy before it even appeared on any lists in the UK. A highly recommended
read IMO.

Moore problems (4/10)
A San Francisco activist claims she's the originator of Michael Moore's
unsourced list of dubious Bush achievements in his bestselling "Stupid
White Men"
By Ben Fritz
[First published on Salon.com (Salon Premium subscription required)]
A list of 48 dubious achievements of President Bush appears in Michael
Moore's bestselling "Stupid White Men," without footnotes or citations
of any kind. A reader might assume that they are accumulated nuggets
from Moore's own research.
But a San Francisco activist says she came up with the list, and she's not
too happy about the way Moore is using it.
Kirsten Selberg contacted Spinsanity following a piece detailing the
numerous errors and factual distortions in "Stupid White Men" to say she
compiled that list for a wall that was displayed at the "Voters March West"
that took place nearly a year ago in San Francisco, on May 19.
Still posted on the Voters March Web site, Selberg's list contains 47 of the
48 facts about Bush mentioned in Moore's book -- in the exactly the same
order and with very similar wording. The only difference is that, unlike
Moore, Selberg provides sources for almost all of her facts.
Representatives for Moore did not respond to requests for comment.
It's quite possible that Moore got his list from any number of sources
besides
Selberg's wall. As both she and David A. Sprintzen (wrongly cited on some
Web sites as the author of the list) explain, the list was frequently
forwarded
through e-mail last summer, presumably while Moore was writing his book.
More recently, it showed up on a number of liberal Web sites.
While Moore didn't bother to source or footnote the Bush list, at least he
got
his facts straight in this case, unlike much of the rest of his book --
though he
does manage to change Labor Department official David Lauriski's name to
Dan.
As Selberg points out, though, nothing on the list has been updated to
reflect
developments since it was written. To take one example: She wrote -- and
Moore repeats -- that Bush proposed to cut the "Reading is Fundamental"
program in his original education plan. By the summer, however, when Moore
was still writing his book, media reports showed that the money was restored
as the plan made its way through Congress.
If Moore had bothered to update the list, she wouldn't be so irked, says
Selberg. "What upset me at first is that Moore and so many others have been
repeating this list without bothering to give it the serious update it
needs," she
told me. "I don't mind that my work is being used by other people, but I'd
like
to see it updated and accurate rather than just repeated over and over by
people who won't do their own research."

But Diana? I don't understand.... Unless you are not going to keep your word

this case(going too fast again!) the newbies have been ran off by you
asking them personal things to benifit you or a ng up in arms over childish
words from you to the members here. In other words no warning needed here,
if you are stepping down like you say? Where and what will you do with all
your extra time now? When I answered all of your personal questions to me I
didn't mean to make you think you had to keep up with me! So, it must be
that you will be having more free time to pop in and out of here so I can
help you with realizing and understanding what people have been trying to
tell you... or water the flowers, or to type slower, and think about
supporting people and being nice. Glad to hear you are making more time for
yourself and am sure the news letter will benifit too, with getting a new
start and being able to help and support people of the cause. I am sure the
people left behind will do their up most effort to do good in the eyes of
the people it supports. Can't think of that saying exactly....?... something
