hello,

i have a contact allergy to regular deodorants. i think the actual
chemical i am allergic to could be aluminium because i do not react to
non-aluminium deodorants. anyway, the problem i have is that the
non-aluminium deodorants really work very badly and things sometimes get
stinky.

is there any treatment for this kind of allergy that anyone knows of? i
mean, something that i could use everyday, so i could use the regular
deodorants that actually work? either that or, the name of a non-aluminium
deodorant that works reliably?

philip.

Lavilin works well, I have found. it is an herbal deoderant [not
anti-perspirant] that was developed in Israel.

One place that sells it online is healthshop.com; I order two
containers of it form them and was satisfied with the speed of their
delivery, their price, and their service. ANd I got a coupon to save
money on a future order :)

Lavilin is hard to find, but many health food type stores do carry it.

I was able to use it exclusively for a few months. Now I find I
actually have to go back to using an anti=perspirant [Secret Platinum
Unscented] as well, even though you aren't supposed to; but if i don't
use the Lavilin I notice a big difference, so it does help.

the aluminum 'deoderants' are actually usually anti=perspirants not
deoderants. There is a difference between the two.

Is it possible that you are allegic to the perfumes and not the
aluminum?? If so, you might try Almay's Clear Gel. It works
for me and without side effects such as rash, itching, etc and most
deodorants/antiperspirants drive me up the wall.

I seem to have a reaction to propylene gylcol, an ingredient in many stick
deodorants and anti perspirants. When I use sticks with it for a few days, I
start developing very itchy lumps in the lymph nodes in my armpits. Many
anti perspirants dry my skin so much that it develops a rash. I experiment
with roll-on unscented products and tend to rotate every few weeks (and
immediately if a rash develops). I have found less problem with some of the
new generation gels and sticks. For a few years the "deodorant stone"
(aluminum salts crystalized) worked very well for me, with no adverse
reaction. Then somehow my body chemistry got used to it and it quit having a
deodorant effect for me.

Don't know if any of this will help with your problem. It's my experience
with a similar problem.

Regards,
ken

Since I also suffer from allergy to deodorants, I have learned that
you need to combine scrupulous attention to cleanliness with judicious
use of cornstarch. Removing underarm hair will help a lot. Daily
bathing is essential. Then, dust with cornstarch.

Unless you happen to be allergic to cornstarch, ( and ALL corn based
products) as I am! 8-(>

I'm also allergic to the chlorine in the city water, so I can't even
bathe as often as I would like! I wash as often as I can stand, and if my
BO bothers other folks, then that is their problem, not mine. I make an
effort NOT to invade the personal space of other people, and expect them to
reciprocate.
What *REALLY* pisses me off are the people who dump an entire bottle of
cologne, or perfume on themselves when going to the doctors office! It sends
me into an asthmatic attack that may last for hours, or even days!!
Really! Is the smell of a little honest sweat, a reason to choke other
folks nearly to death?!?

Sorry for the rant Y'all, but we just got back from my monthly sojourn
to the bookstore for some reading material, and ran into several of these
clouds of stench while there. A *REAL* sore spot!! <caugh,
caugh,Hack,Hack> STILL trying to get my breath.........

Later...
Ray

I can understand your situation because I have severe allergy problems.

You might try just using regular baking soda. You may also use lime under your
arm and avoid the aluminum deodarants.

Greetings,

I have a problem with allergy to deodorants and to rectify this problem and
after trying many different echnique, I find that rubbing under my arms with
a bar of Wrights Coal Tar soap gives me the protection I need without the
stinging and itching of conventional deodorants,

I have also had trouble just using different soaps but find that Wrights
coal tar soap does not cause any problems whatsoever!!

Peter

Hi Peter,
I think I responded to post of yours a few months back, I'm glad to see
you found something you can use....

I take it the deordorant (mineral stick) didn't work out for you.

Is a joyful day when we can find a safe product to use, yes!!!!

Prayers
Zinn
