Fix the biosphere - eliminate people
My ISP killed its news server months ago so I haven't been posting anywhere.
Frankly, Usenet's pretty well obsolete, and this group never had a lot of
traffic at the best of time.
Just got back from a meeting where our incoming J.D. has announced he's
moving out of the jurisdiction within the year. We've lost at least two
officers a year in each of the last several years for that same reason.
Well, kooks and antis are our best advertising, as Masons are the
anti-thesis of those hateful, paranoid people. But Usenet really has had its
day and I don't think an awful lot of people read it. Even s.o.f. is devoid
of traffic. You've got Facebook and Twitter now. A few years from now, it'll
be something else. And I remember when BBSs were such a marvel.

Didn't know Jim. Haven't been to Alberta for over 20 years. Attended a
meeting in the nice little hall in Banff. But we keep losing members to
Alberta. Our J.D. a year ago, our Treasurer over the summer and our incoming
J.D. will be going to the Peace Country but most of his work will be in
Alberta.

Sorry, I forgot you were on the mainland - Jim was a member in Victoria but was a PM from Glenbow 184 here.
The Banff Lodge Hall is still going strong as is the Lodge - we have lost a few Lodges here over the past several years but the loss seems to have slowed lately and some of the Lodges are growing ever so slowly.
Sadly, I don't see much enthusiam among the new members and despite a small influx of younger guys the Lodges are poorly attended.

It seems to vary from Lodge to Lodge. One Lodge I'm in has a bunch of young
guys who are pretty enthusiastic. But they're still not quite settled down
in life. It could be a case like my other Lodge where they move out of town
because that's where their careers take them. I've lost track of how many
officers have moved in the last few years, including our W.M. one year who
missed virtually his whole term.
