I know very little about this organization. My 15 year old son is
going to join. Should I be worried?

Only if you are afraid of him being taught such values as respect for
parents, patriotism, fidelity to one's friends and values as well as honor.
It is a great organization, that I hope my sons will join when they become
old enough.
I was one when I was in high school and wish that I had the time to be more
active with it now as a senior Demolay.

Not in the least. Is there anything that concerns you specifically?

None at all. DeMolay is probably THE BEST youth organization!

As a teenager, I was a DeMolay (I joined when I was 15) and as an
adult, I'm now an advisor.

If you want to know what DeMolay is about, visit the main DeMolay
webpage at http://www.demolay.org

Our chapter has our own website at http://nndemolay.dhs.org

Any more questions - please ask!

I was also a DeMolay through my teen years age 15 to 21. I was also in
band, JROTC and some other things. Out of all of it I would say that
DeMOlay was the best organization I was a part of, without a doubt it
gave me the best building blocks for life. I would heartily recommend
joining DeMolay to any young man I can't think of a single negative
aspect to belonging to DeMolay. It is a fantastic organization.

Hi Ray!

Should you be concerned? No way. I have been active with DeMolay for 7
years (I served as a Chapter Sweetheart in 93-94, and as Florida
Knighthood's Priory Princess in 96-97).

By far, all the best and most well adjusted young men that I know have been
involved in DeMolay. In fact, I met my husband through our time together in
DeMolay.

Your son will be impressed with many of the order's teachings, and will be
able to carry them on into his life. In a nutshell, your son will learn
respect and high morals. (hopefully as a reinforcement in what he learns at
home) He will gain a sense of brotherhood among his chapter.

I have seen many young boys become young men while in DeMolay. In fact,
just this past week, I saw one of "my guys" win an election for State Office
in Florida. (My little "Stubby"). And I saw another guy go into office as
State Master Councilor. Three years ago, I never would have imagined him in
the State Line.

But don't let your participation end at allowing him to join. Be there for
him! Chapters welcome parents to events. Give your support! At 24, I'm
still around (as much as possible, since I'm no longer in Florida). I just
finished a year on the State Parent's Club as their Historian. Some
chapters have an active Mother's club, and some have a Parent's Club. One of
my chapters in FL (I've been adopted by several) has a VERY active parents
club. The mothers socilize in the lobby while their sons are in meeting,
and the Moms provide refreshements for special occasions and installations.
Paul Revere Chapter even goes out to dinner after meetings (every Monday) to
the local Village Inn (adults and kids) for an hour or two.

Hubby and I hope to have sons involved in DeMolay one day. :)

I hope your son (and hopefully you, too) enjoy!

Feel free to email or post any more questions. I'm glad to help.

Ray,
As a parent, you'll be allowed to sit in on his initiation, and you'll
see that there's nothing to be worried about.

As a past member of DeMolay and still active in Helping. It is worth it. I
had great friends and funI would do it again. I have been a part of the
masonic family for 26+ years starting when I was 14 to join Demolay, the the
mason and finallt the Shriners. It is a Great Org.
