Watercolour Painting - Country Cottage

This charming and freely executed painting of an English or Welsh
country cottage, measuring 25.5cm x 17.5cm, is a watercolour. The artist
has caught the charm of a tumbledown thatched dwelling with roses in the
garden. The indistinct signature seems to suggest it might be dated 1929
- there are initials MSC and what looks like the number 29. It remains a
guess however. I'm certain though that it is pre WW2 and I'd be
confident that it is British. From the look of the pinholes in the
corner and the heavy paper I'd say it's from an artist's sketch book and
judging by its free and easy style caught the scene en plein air.
Condition is excellent and with a sympathetic frame would make a lovely
present for lovers of the original work of early 20th Century
watercolourists. I think its lovely!
