Art Deco represented lavish ornamentation, superb craftsmanship and
the finest of materials. Adaptability and inventiveness flourished in
Art Deco metalwork, which was dominated by Parisian design. Wrought
iron, copper and bronze were popular during the 1920s, but by the
1930s, designers favored the more modern aluminum and chrome.
