Striking impressionist style Paris street scene, oil on canvas painting,
Paris street
scene with Moulin Rouge in the background. Quite large measuring 37
1/2"
wide by 25 1/2" tall, with frame. The painting itself, measures 36"
wide by 24"
tall. Signed by the artist S. Daivd (I believe), please see close-up
of the signature.
Framed in original simple wood frame, has a price of $39.00 written
in black ink
on the back. I believe it dates from the 40's to 50's, judging from
the style and
frame. Intriguing French scene, with abstract look....the light is
just breaking
through the clouds in the background. Very professionally painted,
there is a lot
of depth to the painting, that isn't captured with the photographs.
It is stretched
canvas on a wood frame, without glass, the canvas could use
re-stretching, just
ever so slightly loose in the center. It is a very eye catching
painting, and would
be the focal point of any room it was placed in. A perfect accent for
French decor.
