I just got a notice saying a Western Union money order was on its way via
BidPay from a Japanese customer. I'm not familiar with this service -- all I
know is what's in the typographically-challenged emails they sent. Anybody ever
had problems with this service, or should I just go ahead and ship the item?
Thanks!

Hi there,

If the buyer has correctly requested a money order from BidPay, BidPay
will send you (the seller) two emails

email 1 confirms that the buyer has requested a money order from them
email 2 confirms that they have processed the payment and the mnoney
order has been authorised to be sent. From the time you get the second
email from BidPay it will take anywhere from 2 to 7 working days for
you to receive it in your hands.

I strongly urge you to read the full details of email 1. It will show
you the details typed in by your buyer. Make sure they have your postal
address details totally correct!

If you receive nothing from BidPay then the buyser has probably typed
in your email address incorrectly to their system. They must go back in
and correct it. Don't assume anything until you get the BidPay emails.

If you have never used BidPay before, wait until you get the money
order in your hands. Also, I suggest you log in to BidPay and register
yourself as a seller. It costs you nothing, but it guarantees that
anyone using their service to make payments to you will get your postal
info right (because BidPay will use the details you have given them to
post your money orders, and NOT what the buyer types in).

Thanks for taking the time to clarify this for me, Peter. I will do as you
suggest.

You think a message from a Japanese customer is typographically challenged?
You should try writing back to them in Japanese! <g>

Seriously, BidPay money orders are good; you can safely ship the item when
the MO is in your hand.

Many of my regular and new international customers use bidpay, and I've
received dozens of their Western Union money orders promptly and with
no problems.Just like with paypal,I ship out immediately when they send
me their confirmation email with the customer's address without waiting
for the money order to arrive.

I love BidPay and ship as soon as the money order is confirmed. I've never
failed to receive one and it makes the transaction so much faster.

The advantage of registering with BidPay as a seller is that they sent the
MO to the address you registered with, not the one the buyer types in.

I agree with you.

Even when the money order goes missing, you never lose it. They are
good enough to cancel the original m/o and reissue a new one.

I have had cases where the buyer has typed in the postal address wrong
(and I didn't pick up on it in the confirm email). After 2 weeks wait I
started to ask questions. Replies came back from both buyer and BidPay

and a new m/o was issued - arrived 2 days later.
