I was just at the site today doing that, and saw a notice that they
plan to make it fee based on April 25th, sigh.

I can understand that, but this was one of the most useful free tools
on the site. I will miss it. And, I guess, if I'm concerned enough
about a seller, will pay and use it.

Is there anyway to view only the negative and neutral feedback
anywhere else?

You can do a fairly simple workaround, although it isn't anywhere near
as convenient as Vrane was.

Pull up the users feedback page, go to the bottom, and set it to display
500 per page. Then you search the page for the word "complaint". In
Netscape it's the Find in Page command under the Edit tab, I don't
recall what it is in OE, but I'd bet it's something similar. Then you
just click Find Next till you've seen them all, go to the next page and
start over. It takes a while if they have a lot of feedback, but it is
possible.

You mean "IE" of course, and yeah, it's Edit/"Find On This Page" (up or
down search as with NS)

A quick way to search on either IE or NS is press Ctrl+F and it'll bring up
the search box to search text within the currently opened browser window,
on NS and IE (up to 5.5) you can then close the browser window and press F3
to search for the next instance of the search word(s).
F3 does something different in XP IE, it bugs me they've changed the main,
original basic shortcut keys in XP IE.

Vrane.com is the only service that does this online at any price. There is
a desktop app that I believe does this: Safe2Bid, now owned by the people
who made the original Cricket sniper.
http://www.cricketsniper.com/safe2bid.html. I built a windows-based
feedback-filtering tool for someone who wanted to resell it, but he ended up
selling it to someone else before marketing it, and I lost track of what
happened to it.

Isn't vrane's service going to be dirt-cheap? I glanced at the prices and
it looked like it was something in the neighborhood of a penny per search.
Considering the bandwidth a service like that consumes, that is a true
bargain. Anything that saves me more than about 3 seconds of time is worth
a penny.

Doesn't one of the Hammertap software programs use the Vrane engine to
filter feedback? What will happen to this "feature"?

It sounds like it would be a simple ASP script to write.

But you can't buy one search for one penny. You can buy a few hundred
searches for $6, which expire after 6 months. 1000 "universal credits"
will be $6.11, or .6 cents each. 1 Universal credit is good for
processing up to 900 feedback comments. So you can use up a dozen
credits on a powerseller, if you process all comments.

I am usually concerned only with the most recent 500 comments. I don't
care if they had a lot of negs last year. If they have behaved over
the last 500 transactions, they have obviously learned their lesson
and gotten their act together.

A great price for a heavy buyer, maybe not for the occasional shopper.

barebones but functional.

Igor,

Gets my vote -- I use ef.algebra.com all the time now.

You also get my vote as the most invaluable person in this newsgroup.

Igor, you get my vote (and my boss's vote!) I don't know if that counts
as 1, or 2, but I do know we both adore the ebay page you set up!

I'm going to vote against, just to be contrary.

Iggy, don't listen to Richard.

I vote "yes" twice (because I use http://ef.algebra.com/ at least 5 times a
day!)

One vote from me, one from my daughter.

I also vote against Richard's vote.

I think you got your five.

I love this page too! So much more convenient, it's at the top of my
eBay bookmark list!
