Beginning with the 2007 season, the Crossmen have moved and have been
operating from their home base in San Antonio, TX, becoming Texas'
lone Division 1 drum and bugle corps competing in the ranks of Drum
Corps International (DCI).

DCI is a non-profit youth organization serving drum corps around the
globe which perform a 9-11 minute show of music, dance and drill with
the highest level of precision, athleticism, artistry and power.

Amateur participants are between the ages of 14 and 22 who begin their
season in November with auditions. Once membership of 150 performers
is determined, a corps will spend from late May and early June
rehearsing 8 to 12 hours a day, with the touring season beginning in
mid-June.

The corps will travel over 16,000 miles this summer entertaining
hundreds of thousands of fans throughout the nation in competition.

Because traveling in a large convoy usually consists of several coach
buses, semis, a box truck and smaller van for running daily errands,
the budget for a Division 1 corps, such as The Crossmen, runs from
$500,000 to $2 million a year. Although corps members pay anywhere
from $650 to $2,000 in dues and camp fees, additional funds are raised
through sales of souvenirs and paid performances, along with private
donations and corporate sponsorships.
