This is a direct quote from some of David Griffin's course curriculum.
Essentially it states that having a transference with the "leader" or
"Hierophant" of a temple is a good thing. It is a good thing if said
"Hierophant" wants to get laid or receive contributions of money,
books, papers and whatever else of value that the poor candidate is
trying to "impress" his/her new temple with. In David's case, the
thing he wants the most is a piece of ass. A case in point on this is
his roll in the hay with a fat gal named "Vavsie" (who founded a group
called "Double Crossed Roses" for women who had been literally
"screwed" by David) and Mare Simone as seen in www.tantricmagick.envy.nu
. This site is not available in its original form as www.sexualmagic.org
. Most likely because Mare Simone, like Vavsie, figured out what a
jerk this guy really was after a few months. The site at www.tantricmagick.envy.nu
is a basic "mirror" of the original site at www.sexualmagic.org and
was around during 2007, if only for a few months. His text on the role
of the Heirophant clearly shows a "Sleep with 'em and leave 'em"
policy. David Griffin is a double gemini (both sun sign and rising)
and it is "ill dignified" with him. Need proof? Just read what's
below:

Dear new Golden Dawn member,

Welcome to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn! You have just taken
the first step on a long and marvelous journey. Our order is one of
the foremost colleges of the Western Mystery Tradition. You will find
both the magical practice as well as the theoretical material to be as
rewarding as it is challenging.

I would like to encourage you from the outset to get to one of our
temples, training weekends, or magical journeys as soon as possible to
begin your cycle of initiations in our outer order. The magical
practices and rituals required by the curriculum of our outer order
lead you to awaken and balance the forces of the elements, planets,
and the signs of the zodiac in your energetic body. Done properly, the
result of this work may in certain cases closely approximate what
occurs during initiation magically. Nonetheless, although you can
accomplish a great deal through self-study and disciplined magical
work, there can be no substitute for initiation.

Initiation, as its name suggests, may be defined as a new beginning.
In the Golden Dawn system, the initiatic process has a magical as well
as a psychological component. The magical component may be described
as the systematic awakening or ignition of certain forces or energies
in the "Sphere of Sensation" (aura) of the initiate. This process
usually requires an initiator in whom these forces are already
awakened and active, since initiation occurs through an actual
transmission of energies. Thus from a magical perspective, the
relationship between the initiator and the candidate is crucial.

The Hierophant-Initiate relationship is also crucial from a
psychological point of view. According to certain schools of
psychology, a phenomenon called "transference" figures prominently in
effective psychotherapy. Transference may be defined as the process of
becoming conscious of our unresolved parental conflicts. During the
normal course of good psychotherapy, the client begins to see the
therapist as embodying these unresolved conflicts. This occurs as the
client projects the contents of his or her own unconscious onto the
therapist in much the same fashion as a film is projected onto a blank
screen.

Transference also plays a crucial role in the process of initiation,
except that here it is the initiator rather than the therapist who
becomes the screen for the projections. This is one reason why
initiation may be such an effective tool in facilitating personal and
spiritual development.

In the first phase of this transference phenomenon, the candidate
typically sees the initiator in an unrealistically positive light as a
sort of ideal or perfect parent. In this first phase of the
transference, the candidate is living in a state of bliss because of
his or her contact with the "ideal parents" as projected onto the
initiator. This process is not unlike Jung's portrayal of falling in
love. According to Jung, when men fall in love, they project their own
feminine side or anima onto the beloved, while women project the inner
masculine, which Jung calls the animus.

The unfolding initiatic process inevitably leads to a second phase of
the transference, wherein the initiate's ego is assaulted by his or
her personal complexes. This is a necessary process for the awakening
psyche, but it tends to be an unpleasant one. How many love affairs
have ended in disappointment or tragedy? Both the psychotherapeutic
and initiatic processes eventually expose the unresolved conflicts of
early childhood. The Hierophant, who once was seen in an imaginarily
positive light, now becomes invested in the opposite fashion. The
Queen of Heaven becomes the Hag, and the Fairy Prince becomes the
Ogre. The same person who once "could do no wrong" suddenly "can do no
right." These negative projections are, of course, as unrealistic as
the positive projections of the previous phase.

If the initiatic relationship is strong enough and the unconscious
complexes can be safely integrated into consciousness, the initiatic
process will ultimately lead to a situation wherein the projections of
the initiate are completely withdrawn from the Hierophant. This
usually occurs with the initiation into the 5=6 grade of Adeptus
Minor. Once the complexes have been made conscious, the positive and
negative transferences overcome, and the projections withdrawn, the
initiate becomes suddenly aware of a new contact with his or her
"Higher Self," known in magic as the "Knowledge and Conversation with
the Holy Guardian Angel."

During this entire process, the relationship between the Hierophant
and the Initiate has been a crucial factor. Since the transferencial
relationship with another human being is a central factor in
initiation, self-initiation in a psychological sense is nearly as
impossible to achieve as self-administered psychotherapy.

For the same reasons, I would also recommend that you also begin in
psychotherapy as soon as possible. Any Spiritual Discipline, practiced
with enough discipline and persistence, will eventually bring forth
powerful unconscious contents into consciousness. The power of these
unconcscious forces should not be underestimated. Unless these
contents, called complexes, can be safely integrated into
consciousness, they can be acted out in dangerous ways and there can
be serious risk of psychological imbalance or disease arising. In the
case of Ceremonial Magic, there exists a particular danger of ego
inflation or in some cases even megalomania.

In the choice of a good psychotherapist, you should look for one of
the Jungian or Transpersonal orientations, or even better, someone who
practices Psychosynthesis. These schools of psychotherapy have
valuable techniques which nicely complement the magic of the Golden
Dawn. More importantly, therapists with these orientations see
spirituality as a healthy phenomenon rather than something sick that
needs to be healed (as do the Freudians).

In conclusion, having encouraged you to seek out both initiation and
psychotherapy to facilitate your personal as well as spiritual growth
and to ensure your psychological health along this marvelous journey,
I would once again like to welcome you as a new Frater or Soror among
us.

With warm fraternal regards,

Sub Umbra Alarum Tuarum, Yeheshua

The post initiating this thread is part of an ongoing defamation
campaign that has been carefully orchestrated for years against the
Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, outer order of the Rosicrucian
Order of Alpha et Omega and its leaders David Griffin and Jorge Hevia.
This post, like countless others like it over the years, links to a
defamatory website that has been anonymously published using anonymous
proxies to hide the cowards behind it. Tactics frequently used in this
defamation campaign have included impersonation of HOGD/A+O members as
well as false and forged testimonials. The usenet posts directing to
these "anonymous defamation websites" themselves are rountinely
published by anonymous trolls, frequently from the same 'Teranews'
account.

This does not mean that there has not been any indication who is
responsible for this, however, as over the years there have been slip-
ups. For example, on Saturday, February 12, 2005, Robert Zink, leader
of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn slipped up and directed
readers to one such anonymous defamation website from his Golden Dawn
blog in a post signed by himself.

Moreover, in 2007, the content of one such "anonymous defamation
website" was identified on web space belonging to an initiate of the
Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn. The veil of OSOGD deniability,
moreover, was pierced when all three Chiefs of the the OSOGD, Sam
Webster, Joseph Max, and Barbara Cormack signed an open letter in an
official capacity also directing readers to a similar defamatory
article published on the website of the same implicated OSOGD
initiate.

These are strong indications who is behind this. For more information
on the history of the defamation campaign, see:
