1822
	George Lippard born
1825
	Paschal Beverly Randolph born.
c. 1845 - 1854
Lippard, a mystical novelist and Randolph, a spiritualist
and political radical met and, according to R. Swinburne
Clymer (see below) formed, joined, or otherwise became
involved with a Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross. Clymer
was not born yet and never met either man, so his testimony
	is not completely reliable.
1850s - 1860s
Paschal Beverly Randolph became the first modern ceremonial
magicician to call himself a "Rosicrucian" and he siged many
of his articlees and advertisements in metaphyiscial
magazines as "The Rosicrucian." Lippard died in 1854 at the
	age of 32.
1865
Randolph founded the first American three-level ceremonial
lodge system, in San Francisco. This "Triplicate Order" was
Rosicrucian in orientation and tought the practice of
marital sex-magic to students by means of private lessons at
	the third order level.
1875
Randolph died; his writings continued to be distrubuted by his
widow, Kate Corson Randolph until her death.
c. 1910
Among those who acquired Randolph's Rosicrucian teaching
materials were Jonathan Yarker, an English Freemason, and
Reuben Swinburne Clymer, who took over the publication
of the works, in the process founding the Confederation
of Initiates, The Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross a.k.a.
Fraternitas Rosae Crucis, and the Rosicrucian Foundation.
1915
	H. Spencer Lewis founded the AMORC (Ancient Mystical Order
Rosae Crucis), a fraternal and mystical order chartered to
teach Rosicurcian curiculum through the method of initatic
	grades or degrees.
1921
Aleister Crowley of the OTO issued a charter to H. Spencer
lewis of the AMORC. The existence of this charter, binding
AMORC to the "satanist cult" of the OTO, was later made
public by Lewis' Rosicrucian adversary, Clymer.
Why would Lewis, a self-proclimed Rosicrucian, want his
order chartered by the quasi-Masonic OTO? Clymer claimed
that Lewis, having fabricated a lineage for his order and
also having plagiarized its teachings from published books,
was desparate to acquire warrants or certificates from older
occult orders in an effort to bolster the credibility of
	AMORC.
Does this sound familiar? If not, read on, for the same
charges (and counter-charges) were later to be made against
-- and by -- bith David griffin and Chic cicero.
1931
Clymer: Lewis "charged in a suit in California, *to which we
were NOT a party*, instituted by him in the name of
A.M.O.R.C. against two of his former members that they had
maliciously conspired with us [the RF / FRC] and others, to
wrongfully injure A.M.O.R.C. and its Imperator."
Sound familiar? Well, if it doesn't yet, keep reading this
timeline until you hit the names of Wang Li and Dale
Bucholz, former members of Cicero's HOGD who were sued by
	Cicero in in 1998.
By the was, the suit was dropped by Lewis when it came out
in testimony that some of his AMORC lessons were plagiarized
	from published books.
1931 - 1933
Clymer began to publish "warnings" to seekers after the
Rosicrucian traditions, telling them to steer clear of H.
Spencer Lewis and AMORC. In 1933 he challenged Lewis to a
	public debate, but Lewis declined.
1934 and 1935
Clymer copyrighted and trademarked images, names, and slogans
for his Rosicrucian orders in the USA and internationally.
1935
Clymer published "The Rosicicrucian Fraternity in America,"
in which he claimed that AMORC was "a cult of Black Magic,
under the dominion of [Aleister] Crowley -- Baphomet -- THE
ANTI-CHRIST -- whom he [H. Spencer Lewis] acknowledges to be
his Secret Chief." Clymer aso accused Lewis of plagiarism,
or "pilfering charlatanism -- the use of *published books*
to make the *secret* lessons of A.M.O.R.C."
This first great Rosicrucian War played out in public before
an occult community that was by turns amused, distressed,
entranced, scandalized, and disgusted. Ats its roots was a
	trademark dispute.
Oddly enough, in almost every way conceivable -- right down
to charges of diabolism and immorality -- the affair of
Clymer versus Lewis prefigured the later HOGD-C / HOGD-G
wars. except that Clymer's Rosicrucian order produced a
	lavishly colour-illustrated, hard-bound, oversized,
gold-embossed 464 page book in which to tar and feather
Lewis's Rosicrucian order, while Griffin and Cicero's
proxies only posted scurrilous usenet screeds and hosted
	short-lived defamation web sites.
1980s
NROOGD (New Reformed Orthodox Order of the Golden Dawn) is
active in the San Francisco Bay Area, but despite the GD
name, this group is primarily Neo-Pagan, with some members
also belonging to the OTO (Ordo templi Orientis), a
Crowleyan Thelemic group. What is of importance about NROOGD
is that is has not been party to the tradmark squabbles
between Cicero and Griffin; neither camp has challenged the
right of NROOGD to use the Golden Dawn name in commerce.
Prominent early members of NROOGD include Glenn Turner and
Aidan Kelly, the latter an author who wrote many of the
NROOGD rituals, as well as compiling a history of Neo-Pagan
and Wiccan covens in California fron the 1960s-1990s.
1981
Chic Cicero charged with discharging a firearm within city limits,
Muscogee County, GA.; data supplied by many; appears to be true.
	(Case 43488, filed 2/3/81)
1982
(ANON tristrasting: Patricia Behman (Cris Monnastre)
"approache[d] Chic Cicero and Larry Epperson and invite[d]
them to begin to work together with her. This association
[became] the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.")
1983
Chic Cicero charged with wife beating/assault with a deadly
weapon Muskogee County, GA; data supplied by many; appears
to be true. (Case 47626X, aggravated assault, filed 8/31/83)
(ANON Emailer: "charges were dropped" -- no trial, no
	conviction)
1988
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero files letters of incorporation"
	for HOGD-C)
1994
The year of the "pizza schism" -- the stories told by various
parties simply cannot be reconciled, as they differ too greatly.
for this reason i will present each on its own, without comment.
(ANON tristrasting: "January, 1994, Cris Monnastre, Praemonstratix
General of HOGD, [left] Chic Cicero's home with David Griffin
after Chic Cicero allegedly [threw] a tantrum, screaming at
Monnastre in public over what kind of pizza to order. Upon
returning to Los Angeles, the Los Angeles earthquake [hit]. Co-
chiefs Chic Cicero and Larry Epperson allegedly "resign[ed]" GH
Soror MdA (Cris Monnastre) by falsely telling the order that she
"resigned." Monnastre immediately reconstitute[d] the order with
two new Chiefs. David Griffin [became] the legitimate Imperator of
	HOGD.)
(ANON emailer: "Behman took Griffin, her lover, to Cicero's home
to receive initiation in his Vault; the ceremony was performed
by Cicero, Behman, and Adam Forrest [a pseudonym used by Larry
Epperson]. The three of them initiated Griffin in the vault,
then Behman went back and solo-initiated Griffin to a higher
degree and she gave him a warrant to start a temple in Sweden.
	Epperson and Cicero objected, and there were harsh words;
Behman and Griffin went to a hotel. Next day, Epperson went home
to South Carolina. Behman had called and left a message on his
machine saying she was resigning. Epperson played the message
for Cicero, and they considered her to have resigned, so they
appointed Tabatha Cicero as Pat's replacement. Cicero still has
the answering machine tape containing her resignation. They
contacted David and told him, 'We will not recognize your Zealator
Adeptus Minor degree -- in fact we're not even sure about your
5=6 because the thesis you turned in was supposed to be a thesis
on the outer order and you turned in a thesis on Enochian magic
and we have no record of your taking the exams.' They offered,
'David, retake your exam, submit a new thesis, come back to the
vault, and retake your 5=6, and you may stay in the order,' but
he refused and they expelled him. Then Behman tried to un-resign.
She claimed to be the lineage holder, as she had been Israel
Regardie's student, and she excommunicated Cicero and his group.")
(ANON tristrating: "February, 1994, David Griffin found[ed] the
Isis-Nut temple in Stockholm and register[ed] the Hermetic Order
of the Golden Dawn trademark in Sweden. He immediately afterwards
use[d] this trademark as the basis to register the same trademark
in the newly created OHIM trademark office for the entire European
	Union."
1995
(ANON tristrasting: "March, 1995, Chic Cicero file[d] to register
the HOGD trademark in the USA. [Behman] and Griffin hire[d]
Stewart MacKenzie, the attorney who won the Marcello Motta vs.
OTO case, to defend their interests and file formal opposition
	to Cicero's trademark application.")
(ANON tristrasting: Defamation posts begin. "Nazi rumors about
Griffin [were] on the internet" along with rumours about "Cicero's
alleged involvement with the New Jersey Cavalcanti crime family,
	strip clubs, and pimping.")
(ANON Emailer: "Around this time" reports began to circulate that
"David Griffin had performed a ritual at which a Nazi flag" was
on or over the altar. "This was not merely a representation of a
swastika, it was an actual Nazi flag." Photographs were said to be
in existence, and it was said that "Pat Behman witnessed this."
It was also claimed via various internet channels that "Pat had
photographs." Later, Pat and others claimed to have destroyed
	the photographs.)
I have enquired, but no photographs of David Griffin performing
a ceremony with a Nazi flag were available to the public in 2007.
1996
(ANON tristrasting: "March 1996, Cicero, Griffin, and [Behman]
sign a legally binding contract to share the "Hermetic Order of
the Golden Dawn" trademark on a world-wide basis. Cicero gains
partial ownership of the mark in Europe and Griffin-[Behman]
gain partial ownership as well in the USA. [...] Upon reaching
this settlement agreement with Cicero, [Griffin and Behman]
	withdraw their trademark opposition.")

(ANON emailer: This contract was made voluntarily; it was not
the result of court action. That came later.")
1997
Carroll "Poke" Runyon publishes "Secrets of the Golden Dawn Cypher
Manuscript" with foreword by Pat Zalewski and afterword by
	R. A. Gilbert.
1997
(ANON tristrasting: "Griffin and [Behman], together with the
Ahathoor Temple No. 7 in Paris, the August Order of the
Mystic Rose, and a temple in South America, form an
international Conferation of the Hermetic Order of the
	Golden Dawn."
This means that Griffin, Word, and a third party in South
	America form an alliance.
1997
(ANON Jean: "at a Golden Dawn conference in 1997 R. A.
Gilbert delivered a paper that effectively salvaged the
history and reputation of the Societas Rosicruciana in
America, an order that had been moribund owing to a court
dispute among senior members concerned with a land deal that
had gone wrong under the Imperatrix Lucia Grolsch. The
SRIAmerica was later revived by a member, and new
Imperatrix, Soror Maria, and continues to exist")
1998
(ANON tristrasting: "SRIA (America) Imperatrix, Sister Lucia
Grosch, is sued by Frank Modica. Destitute, she is forced to
accept money from Maria Babwahsing[h] to settle the suit in
exchange for handing over the SRIA to Babwahsing[h] and Cicero.
Cicero is alleged to have threatened Grosch with violence if
	she did not comply.")
No charges were filed against Cicero with respect to violent
threats or violent actions as a result of this event.

June 25, 1998, Cicero's HOGD-C sues Wang Li and Dale Bucholz
who "may have been members of the Plaintiff's organization
or persons with whom the Plaintiff has had both spiritual
and other contacts" in Superior Court in New Jersey "for
damages, including both compensatory and punitive damages,
together with interest and costs of suit" because "The
Defendants, on or about June 15, 1998 and June 16, 1998 and
other dates both prior to and after these dates, falsely and
maliciously wrote and published or caused to be written and
published through the Internet and private E-mail [...]
messages concerning the Plaintiff" and although "The
Plaintiff on or about June 16, 1998 and thereafter,
attempted to obtain a public retraction of the foregoing
false and libelous statements, [...] the Defendants have
refused and still refuse to so retract."

It is interesting to compare ANON posters who speak frankly
and truthfully with those who habitually lie or exaggerate.
This lawsuit provides a guage of the relative reliability of
	posters who mention it:
(ANON ainsuph: "It was filed in state court in New Jersey in
Bayonne, by a lawyer officed down the street from the
	plaintiff."
(ANON tristrasting: "It was a full blown lawsuit in which
Maria Babwahsing tried to use her money to silence the voice
of all opposition [...] in her temple as well as in the
Cicero order. She sued [...] whistleblowers from her New
Jersey Temple, Wang Li and Dale Buchholz. Rumor has it that
Babwahsing even hired a private detective in an attempt to
locate Griffin's residence so that she could sue him as
well. She fired the poor guy after he spent the whole Summer
chasing Griffin's tour bus but getting nowhere!")
(ANON Sar Draconis: "The Court dismissed the complaint. The
Plaintif [Cicero's HOGD] did not win a monetary judgement
against their alleged membership attacked in this New Jersey
	Lawsuit.")
1999
(ANON tristrasting: "The Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega
and its outer order the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
proclaim the Reformatio Fraternitatis, Anno 1999, moving all
published Golden Dawn material to the outer order and
replacing this material with a new Second Order curriculum
derived entirely from confidential, pre-Golden Dawn
	Rosicrucian and Hermetic esoteric transmissions.")
This incident, which has nothing to do with the lawsuits, is
	centrally important to those in the Griffin HOGD / RO A+O;
for by making a formal declaration that GD is "outer order"
material, the Griffin HOGD / RO A+O reserves only its
Rosicrucian (A+O) material as occult, hidden, and secret.
This move appears to foreshadow the OSOGD's premise that
since GD rites and teachings have long been available in
print, it is "Open Source" material.

(ANON tristrasting: Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
publishing releases David Griffin's landmark work, The
Ritual Magic Manual. In this work, Griffin follows the same
lines of synthesis employed by Mathers for elemental magic
uniting the Qabalistic and Enochian systems and achieves the
same integration for Planetary and Zodiacal magick.
Griffin's work makes the magick of the R.R. et A.C. easy to
	practice for the first time.")
In other words, ANON tristrasting gives Griffin's book a
	favourable review. ;-)
2002
(ANON tristrasting: "The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn,
under Griffin's leadership, opens the Harparkrat Cyber
Temple, making the [Griffin] HOGD system available for
students living in outlying areas for the first time, yet
preserving the sanctity of physical initiations in real
	temples.")
The issue of "cyber temples" and "astral initiations" versus
physical temples and physical initations is tossed back and
forth by those on both sides of the issue; aspirants who feel
strongly about the matter should enquire of any group they
wish to join as to whether it allows the existence of "cyber
temples" and "astral initiations" -- and choose accordingly.
(ANON tristrasting: In October, 2002, Griffin and other HOGD
leaders meet in Paris with representatives of the
Continental European Hermetic and Rosicrucian secret
alchemical society that had given the Cypher manuscripts to
Kenneth MacKenzie with with the HOGD was created and the
material for the RR et AC to S.L. MacGregor Mathers. Mathers
referred to these Continental Adepts, the "source of origin"
of the original Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn as the
"Secret Chiefs." Representatives of this order give Griffin
the rituals and the esoteric teachings that had been
intended for the "Third Order" of the original, Hermetic
	Order of the Golden Dawn.)
What this means is that ANON tristrasting believes that
Griffin is in contact with the same order from whom
Mathers claimed his lineage. The existence of this
	"tird order" is unverified.
(ANON tristrasting: Chic Cicero breaks his agreement [with
Griffin] not to initiate each other's students [...] by
initiating Griffin HOGD member Mark Griggs. Griffin breaks
off all relations with Cicero. Cicero begins to [...]
interfere in the internal affairs of Griffin's order by
offering advanced grades and trademark licenses to anyone
	willing to foment schism.)
2003
(ANON Emailer: The Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn is
founded, independently of all previous GD orders. OSOGD "does
not rely on a 'lineage' for its authority."
(ANON tristrasting: The Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn is
founded by "a group of alleged Satanists.")
The only citation ANON tristrasting gives for the OSOGD
being founded by Satanists is a Wikiedia entry. Wikipedia is
a collectively written and often vandalaized site, so this
citation only means that a person with a grudge inserted the
term in a Wikipedia article. The basis of the "Satanism"
charge at Wikipedia seems to have been that the Egypitan
deity Set is among the Kemetic godforms utilized by the
OSOGD. (this is annotated in the Wikipedia page's editorial
history.) Since Set is not Satan, the statement is untrue.
(ANON emailer: Although it was self-organized and self-
originated, the OSOGD "accepts" a Golden Dawn license or
certificate from Cicero's HOGD as "a show of support" for his
	trademark declarations.)
(ANON Mira: Chic Cicero "allegedly 'certifies' this [OSOGD]
	group.")
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero begins to solicit trademark
infringement on his website and to "nakedly lisence" a host
of self-initiation, astral initiation, and Satanist groups
to use the 'Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn' trademark.")
This is demonstrably untrue and casts all ANON tristrasting
	statments into doubt.
2005 - 2007
Anonymous usenet posters continue to cite links to rabidly
anti-Griffin web pages, filled with slanderous statements.
Meanwhile, other anonymous usenet posters publish details
shaming and damaging to the reputations of Cicero. All
these posts seem to be backlash from the HOGD lawsuit.
(ANON Emailer: Cicero hires "a lawyer named Zimmerman" to
	"represent him" against Griffin.)
Compare this with
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero breaches his contract with
Griffin and files a frivolous lawsuit against Griffin in
U.S. Federal Court. Cicero hires a ghetto lawyer from
downtown Oakland upon the urging of 'Open Source' Satanist,
Joseph Max. Griffin's HOGD interests are represented by
	Florida attorney, Jorge Hevia III.)
Speaking for myself as the compiler of these statements, i
have to object here: ANON tristrasting is mixing defamation
with slander. Joseph Max is not a Satanist, ratherm he is a
well-known Chaos Magician. Also, Zimmerman is not a "ghetto
lawyer"; he is by all accounts a fairly mainstream attorney.
However, it may be worth noting that Zimmerman is a Jewish
surname and that in calling him a "ghetto lawyer," ANON
tristrasting, who posts on behalf of David Griffin, gives
weight to allegations that Griffin harbours Nazi sentiments,
including anti-Semitism. Of all the statements made by ANON
tristrasting, this one, in which he calls Joseph Max a
"Satanist" and Mr. Zimmerman a "ghetto lawyer" is the most
damaging to his credibility and claims of neutrality -- and
it also tarnishes his "secret chief," David Griffin.
2006
(ANON Jean: Griffin's HOGD temples in US see many members
	decamp to Cicero's HOGD)
2007
(ANON tristrasting: Cicero [...] had painted himself into a
legal corner [...] for the following reasons: 1. Cicero and
his order were clearly not the "source of origin" of the
Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. (His attorneys had been
silly enough to argue that they were in their early filings,
thus inadvertently setting Cicero up for a fall.) 2. Cicero
was clearly guilty of soliciting infringement of the mark on
his website. This alone was grounds enough for the mark to
be cancelled. 3. Cicero was guilty of "naked" licensing,
which means licensing third parties to use the trademark
without proper supervision and control. His website
announcements made this easy to prove as well. This also in
itself would have been sufficient grounds for the judge to
cancel the mark should the case have gone to trial as well.
[...]should Cicero [...] have won a judgement against
Griffin for trademark infringement in the USA, this would
have in itself been grounds for Griffin to obtain a similar
judgement against Cicero for his infringing on Griffin's
trademark of the same name in Europe. Thus, caught in a
lose-lose situation, Cicero caved in and gave Griffin
everything he wanted in order not to get his trademark
	cancelled in trial.")
February, 2007, a settlement was reached between Griffin and
Cicero. The outcome of this settlement has been contended by
the opposing camps in this struggle. Because the kinds of
stories they tell can be verified against court records and
their lies exposed, it is instructive to record their
varying takes on the event, and to use their adherence to
truth in this matter as a benchmark of their expected truth
in other matters. i shall therefore summarize their
	statements:
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero settle[d] litigation with Griffin,
caving in and basically giving Griffin everything that he
wanted, including the permanent right to call his outer
order the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the USA.")
This is not true. Griffin must call his USA order by a
modified name, not HOGD, and all recent posts by Griffin's
people do refer to their order as HOGD - RO A+O, HOGD A+O,
HOGD / A+O or similar terms, substantiating the fact that
Griffin's ability to use the term HOGD in the USA was
	greatly abridged or limited.
(ANON Jean: Griffin los[t] lawsuit to Cicero over the use of
HOGD name in America, then relocate[d] in Germany.)
This is false; Griffin did not lose the lawsuit; he may have
	relocated to Germany, however.
(Mark Bolks re: ANON Jean's claim, "This is a false statement made
with knowledge of it being a false statement.")
This is partially true -- ANON Jean made a false statement, but
Mark Bolks cannot prove that ANON Jean knew it to be false. Yet
there is some merit in considering Bolks to be accurate when he
writes of ANON Jean, "From looking at the Northern California
District Court dockets in this case entitled 'The Hermetic Order
of the Golden Dawn, Inc. v. David Griffin' anyone can objectively
verify that you are making a false statement. Any other statements
you have made, in this light, can be seen similiarly then. Quite
simply, your statements are subjective propaganda."
(ANON emailer: it is a "settlement with prejudice" [...] The
judge was highly critical of Griffin's lawyer, by the way,
requiring him to amend his filings as they were so
	unprofessional.")
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero's claims against Griffin and
Griffin's counter claims against Cicero are dismissed with
	prejudice by the judge.")
This is apparently true.
(ANON tristrasting: "Griffin had managed for all intents and
purposes to bankrupt Cicero with his his attorney's scorched
earth legal strategy, forcing Cicero to reply to 115 filings
that were made during the case.")
Compare this claim with --
(ANON emailer: "Griffin's lawyer worked for free, reportedly
in exchange for receiving a 5=6 initiation, and Cicero
probably spent $100,000 on the case. [...] It hurt Cicero
financially, but it didn't bankrupt him.")
(ANON tristrasting: "Within hours [of the settlement],
Griffin announce[d] that his order [was] in possession of the
entire Third Order transmission originally intended for the
original HOGD, and that its curriculum includes the sexual
practices of Hermetic Inner Alchemy and Alchemical Theurgy,
that had been obtained by GD founder, S.L. MacGregor Mathers
from the Continental European "source of origin" of the
	original Golden Dawn.")
I interpret ANON tristrasting's claim thus: The unfortunate
combination of Griffin's earlier decision to place all HOGD
materials in his own outer order coupled with the 2007
settlement, which seemingly disentitledhim from calling his
group HOGD in the USA, forced Griffin to move on and focus
his attention elsewhere. He decided to promote his secret
Rosicrucian second order (RO A+O) and to back this up with
an even more secret third order of "sexual alchemy" in an
attempt to draw potention GD students and members away from
Cicero's HOGD, the EOGD, and the OSOGD.
(ANON emailer: "One of the conditions of the settlement was
that neither party was to further attck the other. This
accounts for the large volume of anonymous posts by
pro-Griffinites. If it could be proved that David Griffin
made any of those posts, he would be found in violation of
	the agreement.")

(ANON tristrasting: May, 2007, 'Golden Dawn Lineage' claims
made on their websites by Cicero's HOGD and Babwahsiing's
SRIA[m] are unmasked on based on no evidence whatsoever."
No citation given for this "unmasking."
(ANON tristrasting: Cicero HOGD, Inc. Principal Board
Director Anthony [sic] and noted Golden Dawn historian,
Anthohy Fuller (aka Anthony Fleming) admits that Cicero's
HOGD and Babwahsing's SRIA (America)'s lineage claims are
	without merit.")
No citation given for this "admission."

This has to be rephrased, since "three-level ceremonial lodge system"
is a description of Freemasonry.
This is false; Griffin did not lose the lawsuit; he may have
        relocated to Germany, however.
TT:
Cat, your statement here is not accurate.
My statement was as follows- I did not say that Griffin lost a lawsuit
to Cicero.
I said, on May 15th:
"Most recently, in a lawsuit between Griffin and Cicero, Griffin lost
the right to the HOGD name in the USA"
That is somewhat different.
Cat, please, I ask you to be more cautious with my statements, because
the value of your timeline - which I think is a valuable resource,
does depend on accuracy.
I believe what I have said to be accurate. I'm prepared to amend that
if someone posts the court decision in its entirety.
Cicero's site announced recently that his group 'has been and
continues to be the sole and exclusive owner of United States
Trademark Registration No. 2,034,866 for our mark THE HERMETIC ORDER
OF THE GOLDEN DAWN & Design.'
And as we see, the Griffin order now calls itself a variety of
different names, and has moved on to a different focus of a putative
'Third Order', that of sexual alchemy.
Jean
Thank you. I have ammended the material as you wished, and i apologize
for my inaccurate condensation in the first place. It now reads:
(ANON Jean: "in a lawsuit between Griffin and Cicero, Griffin
lost the right to the HOGD name in the USA", then "relocate[d]
	in Germany.")
This is partially false; Griffin did not completely lose the
right to the HOGD name; he lost the right to use it as a
stand-alone name witout a modifying term, such as "Alpha et
	Omega."
The timeline is nearing completion, and i have added a great deal more
not seen in the "final call" usenet version, primarily material about
the original HOGD and the question of why lineage claims lead to
lawsuits.
After this i will make "final calls" on the people sectin, the
organization section, and the ANON posters section. Doing so will run me
over my self-imposed May 31st deadline, but the results are, i hope,
worth it.

As a rule, we do not comment on the matters dealt with herein beyond
the Trademark statement that appears on our web site at "http://
www.golden-dawn.com" under "Links" in the public area. However, in
this particular instance, I have been authorised to provide the
following brief statement:
Catherine Yronwode wrote:
"February, 2007, a settlement was reached between Griffin and Cicero.
The outcome of this settlement has been contended by the opposing
camps in this struggle. Because the kinds of stories they tell can be
verified against court records and their lies exposed, it is
instructive to record their varying takes on the event, and to use
their adherence to truth in this matter as a benchmark of their
expected truth in other matters. i shall therefore summarize their
statements:
(ANON tristrasting: "Cicero settle[d] litigation with Griffin, caving
in and basically giving Griffin everything that he wanted, including
the permanent right to call his outer order the Hermetic Order of the
Golden Dawn in the USA.")
This is not true. Griffin must call his USA order by a modified name,
not HOGD, and all recent posts by Griffin's people do refer to their
order as HOGD - RO A+O, HOGD A+O, HOGD / A+O or similar terms,
substantiating the fact that Griffin's ability to use the term HOGD in
the USA was greatly abridged or limited."
The following legal clarification from the Hermetic Order of the
Golden Dawn, the Outer Order of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et
Omega official website thereat www.golden-dawn.com clearly states,
however:
From: "http://www.golden-dawn.com/temple/index.jsp?
s=articles&p=trademark"
"Regarding trademarks, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the
outer order of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega® is the sole
and exclusive owner of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn®
trademark in the European Union (OHIM reg. 000063925) as well as of
The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn International® trademark in
Canada (CIPO Reg. TMA510387). Additionally, our order recently settled
litigation victoriously preserving our perpetual and irrevocable right
to use the name of our outer order, the Hermetic Order of the Golden
Dawn, without further interference in the USA.
During the entire course of the aforementioned litigation, our order
went to great lengths to make it clearly understood that, for the
Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega, the Hermetic Order of the Golden
Dawn is nothing more than our First or Outer Order, that is to say our
"Kindergarden" for magickal beginners. This is because the Alpha et
Omega does not wish to be confused with the plethora of groups using
the words "Golden Dawn" in their names, yet offering their students
little or nothing more than the well known, original H.O.G.D. and
Stella Matutina material published by Crowley and Regardie.
The Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega has fought hard and achieved
victory in preserving our right to use the name of our outer order,
the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, without interference in the
USA. The Alpha et Omega nonetheless distinguishes itself with its
uniquely complete, Three Order system of advanced, unpublished
Hermetic and Rosicrucian magick and alchemy, from the plethora of
groups calling themselves "Golden Dawn," yet leading little or nowhere
beyond well known, published material. Indeed, where others leave off,
the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega just begins!"
Most notably, Catherine Yronwode further promotes some of the most
defamatory misrepresentation in the following entries, to wit:
"(ANON tristrasting: Defamation posts begin. "Nazi rumors about
Griffin [were] on the internet" along with rumours about "Cicero's
alleged involvement with the New Jersey Cavalcanti crime family, strip
clubs, and pimping.")"
"(ANON Emailer: "Around this time" reports began to circulate that
"David Griffin had performed a ritual at which a Nazi flag" was on or
over the altar. "This was not merely a representation of a swastika,
it was an actual Nazi flag." Photographs were said to be in existence,
and it was said that "Pat Behman witnessed this."It was also claimed
via various internet channels that "Pat had photographs." Later, Pat
and others claimed to have destroyed the photographs.) I have
enquired, but no photographs of David Griffin performing a ceremony
with a Nazi flag were available to the public in 2007."
Most notably, Catherine Yronwode further writes some of the worst kind
of slanderous misrepresentation in the following entries, to wit:
"(ANON tristrasting: Defamation posts begin. "Nazi rumors about
Griffin [were] on the internet" along with rumours about "Cicero's
alleged involvement with the New Jersey Cavalcanti crime family, strip

The spurious propaganda supra, and the defamation websites of the
vilest nature about Mr. David Griffin which are republished therein,
only appeared after Mr. Griffin opposed another party's trademark
application in light of Mr. Griffin's senior use in the United States
and his then in effect Swedish trademark (to which his current
O.H.I.M./E.U. trademark dates pro nunc tunc). These posts, dating from
the mid-1990s, can still be found on alt.magick. After thirteen long
years of this rumour being anonymously published on defamation
websites about Mr. Griffin, this so-called photograph has never been
produced. The only possible inference surrounding this 'photograph' is
that it was dreamt into conception by the parties who wished to defame
Mr. Griffin. Instead however, the only genuine photograph of Mr.
Griffin acting in a street theatre performance as an amateur actor,
mocking and deriding Hitler and accusing humanity of acting like Nazis
towards the environment, has been published ad nauseum and taken
utterly out of context. The very fact that Ms. Yronwoode now attacks
both parties to the recent legal suit whilst whitewashing the OSOGD
opens her impartiality to question.

temples.")
The issue of "cyber temples" and "astral initiations" versus physical
temples and physical initations is tossed back and forth by those on
both sides of the issue; aspirants who feel strongly about the matter
should enquire of any group they wish to join as to whether it allows
the existence of "cyber temples" and "astral initiations" -- and
choose accordingly."
Further clarification is also necessary regarding Ms. Yronwode's
disingenuous attempt to misrepresent not only the role and nature of
the HOGD/A+O's Harparkrat Cyber Temple, but also the types of
initiation recognised by our order. As set forth infra, we only
recognise physical initiation at a temple of our order. The role of
the HOGD/A+O's Harparkrat Cyber Temple has always been, since its
inception, there to provide an instructional resource for our members.
It is not a substitute for physical initiations. The Harparkrat Cyber
Temple is a resource to provide members with additional support on
their esoteric journey by providing a private members' area complete
with ritual instruction through personal tutors, members' forum and
weekly lectures. The complete details surrounding the operative nature
of our Order's Harparkrat Cyber Temple may be viewed here at our
website:
http://www.golden-dawn.com/temple/index.jsp?p=member.
However, the only type of initiation recognised by the HOGD/A+O is
traditional physical initiation in a legitimate temple of our order.
Putative "Astral", or possibly even more questionable "Self"
initiations are not sanctioned. Hence, the HOGD/A+O- ever mindful of
our esoteric responsibilities as an order as well as of our exoteric
ones as trademark owners- neither charters nor licenses any entity
which employs dubious, non-traditional practices such as "astral" or
"self" initiation, or that mixes Hermetic teachings with Thelema or
other traditions, to use the "Golden Dawn" imprimatur in the Occult
community.

Cat, thanks for the modification . . . I believe your statement that
Griffin can not use the HOGD name without a modifier to be correct.
He cannot, so far as I understand use the 'HOGD' name in the USA, ie,
he cannot call himself the 'Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn' as a
standalone name in that jurisdiction. . . for what it's worth.
(And personally I don't think it's worth very much, though I expect
financially it is of some value.)

I would like to clarify that I am the only official spokesperson of
the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn® in the present discussion. My
presence here has been merely to post an official statement. I shall
not engage in dialogue, and particularly not with anonymous trolls,
whose statements are by nature misrepresentative. Certainly, no
statements posted by anonymous trolls should be misattributed as
originating from our order. Indeed, the above such misattribution by
Ms. Yronwode clearly reveals her true agenda of promoting Joseph
Max's OSOGD, of which her husband is a member, while defaming other
orders, in this instance the HOGD/A+O.

actual documents from the US Federal Court's on-line Pacer system

pulling up case 05-432 JSW on Pacer. To get a copy of the ENTIRE

I understand your objection. From the perspectives of a participant, it
may indeed seem unfair that i am accepting the testimony of ANON
posters. (Side-note: they are not "trolls," as that term is typically
used in usenet to mean outsiders who enter a newsgroup making
ourageously controversial statements in order to vandalize the forum and
disrupt conversations; rather, they are anonymous posters who are in
most cases long-time members of the occult community.)
However, it has all along been my intention to create a coherent
narrative of the Golden Dawn / Rosicrucian "wars" as they have played
out in magazines, books, usenet, and courts. It has not been my
intention to create an authoritative account of Golden Dawn /
Rosicrucian istory per se, except insofar as such is needed to place the
"wars" in contextual perspective.
I am actively soliciting "objective truth," of course, and i have
continually tried to give it its due -- but the entire point of my
"Programme Booklet" project is to document the anger, hurt, vitriol,
pain, suffering, deceptions, insults, propaganda campaigns, and legal
machinations that have given rise to the occult community itself
referring to these events as "wars."
Right now, for instance, i am going through Google's usenet archive for
early 1997, digging out the texts of the apparently unsubstantiated
charges of sexual misconduct against a "leading light" of the Servants
of the Light (Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki's group) made by R. A. Gilbert
and Nick Farrell and defended against by Robert Word. These usenet
"wars" contain the accusations and the defenses -- but the best i can do
for "objective truth" is to note that i found no evidence on the web of
any lawsuits brought against SOL leaders for the crimes with which they
were charged in usenet.
Once you understand my true aim -- to bring together a narrative history
of the inter-order bickering, squabbling, lawsuits, lies, rumours,
accusations, charges, and counter-charges, as it played out in the
public media -- then it becomes obvious that i must collect the ANON
posts, as they form a large portion of the text.
However, i do appeal to you, and to all knowledgeable parties: If you
can identify any of the following ANON posters, please do so. I know
that there have been attempts to trace at least some of them through
their IP addresses, and i welcome any substantive claims as to their
identities:

Christie has told me by telephone that these posts do not

Mark Christie is an ex-member of HOGD-G, at one time the
order's Cancellarius, who resigned in January, 2006.

ANON Person...@gmail.com = ANON Personalmagic

	and Robert Word.")
(claimed "there are between 30-50 active members left in Chic's order,"
that Griffin's order has 2,800 active members and Griffin's (Yahoo)

(note: the above 3 things do not mesh; if ANON sria_truth is a HOGD-C
member, he would not accuse me of being a Cicero agent and then claim
that Griffin is more popular than Cicero. Ergo, ANON sria_truth is
best approached as a Griffin double agent, posing as a Cicero member.)
Thanks for any help you can offer.

My aim is not to provide a hiostory of the order, but rather a history
of the "wars." If you could provide a three-or-four sentence
condensation of the material you cite, i would be grateful.

Also, as i asked earlier, i am trying to unmask some of the ANOn
posters. Would you care to tell us a little about yourself, such as you
name and order affiliations.
Thanks,

Thanks for your contributions.

I realize that you would wish this not to be the case, but the order
that your
husband belongs to was up to their necks in the "GD Wars" that you
claim
to be documenting. The Golden Dawn Meeting Place forum operated by
OSOGD Imperator, Joseph Max, published between 2005 and 2007
literally
thousands of posts critical or misrepresentative of the HOGD/A+O,
David Griffin,
their leader, and their Attorney, Jorge Hevia. I shall not provide
links to them
here, as there are literally THOUSANDS of such posts. To easily verify
this,
I would suggest that you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/goldendawnmeetingplace/.
A casual search of that groups archives is enough to easily verify
this. For example,
for the period 2005-2007 search term 'Griffiin' yields 1541 results,
Hevia 316,
Jorge 221 results. The vast majority of these posts are pro-Cicero GD
and
anti-Griffin GD in nature.
My point is Cat that the OSOGD certainly does not have the white vest
that
you portray them as having in your programme booklet. Far from sitting
on the
sidelines, the OSOGD (or at least its Imperator, Joseph Max, and
numerous
other OSOGD members, were heavily involved in pro-Cicero and anti-
Griffin
mudslinging. This is not obvious here, because most of this happened
at the
Golden Dawn Meeting Place on Yahoo. If you truly wish to be objective
even
in documenting the history of the, so-called "GD Wars" then the
unquestionable
mudslinging of OSOGD's Joseph Max's forum simply can not be covered
up
or glossed over.
Thanks, Trevor. I have little to say in response. The right of an editor
to compile the statements of various parties to a dispute is,
thankfully, not about to be abridged.
I have seen evidence that HOGD A+O members think that i am an "agent" of
either Cicero's order or Webster's, but i am not. I am just an ocucltist
and folk magician, a professional researcher and writer, who had a few
days on her hands and was curious to see what all the fuss was about.
