Much work has been done dissecting the science of psychics,
spiritualism and magick. James Randi's young student Banachek has
written books on the subject of reading minds by studying body
language, and by using our abillities to use psychology to understand
average people. Kenton Knepper has also done a good deal of work
creating a body of knowledge on how language can be used to influence
peoples perception of reality, and manipulate them. He also has come
up with a system of Cold Reading with an emphasis on listening to your
creative intuitive impressions, instead of just delivering stock lines.
Even the noted skeptic James Randi agrees that there are ways of
channeling information directly from the environment. This week in his
blog he wrote that chinese scientists who have found snakes can predict
earthquakes, could quite likely be on to something. He feels that
animals who are connected to the natural cycles of the planet can
actually predict earthquakes because they can sense physical energies.
And so can human beings. So it seems that whenever there is any
evidence for the paranormal it gets added to the body of knowledge
about what is normal. And anyone like me who wants to take the
challenge gets denied the opportunity, unless they are a celebrity.
I've in fact been banned from the million dollar challenge. So it
really doesn't prove anything!
But magicians have been focusing on ways to use psychology, intuition,
and suggestion to entertain people by pretending to read minds. And
I've found that not only can magic be used to read minds, but can
actually be put into practice for more than simply entertainment. If
all humans and animals have intuition, we can use it to our advantage
to succeed in life! And we do this simply by practicing.
According to Banachek the ideomotor response, also called muscle
reading, is the key technique psychics use to read minds. Being able
to read a persons body language, and facial expression can tell you a
great deal about what they are thinking, and they don't even realize
they are giving you this information. That is because it all happens
completely subconsciouslly. The involuntary muscle movements of the
body happen in the right side of the brain, where the creative,
imaginative, artistic part of our consciousness resides. So when we
communicate with other people we don't just think in terms of concrete
facts and languages, but everything we say gets processed as emotional
states, and truths and falsehoods.
Banachek can ask a person to only think of a number between 1 and 10,
and then simply begin drawing straight lines, and curves. And just by
watching a persons reaction to the meaningless lines he is drawing, he
can intuitively perceive what number they are actually thinking of. He
can watch their body and guage if it is a large number or a small
number, if the shape is round or straight, perhaps if it is even or
odd. And then without even giving a guess, he can predict what they
are already thinking of. So the human mind already communicates
telepathically with its environment, and we are already subconsciouslly
picking up this kind of information all the time.
We have a natural guage of "truthiness" when someone is talking to us.
You can tell that I am trying to be honest with you when I am writing,
and I'm not out to decieve anyone. Their is a skill to picking up this
kind of information consciously, and it amounts to how much resistence
I seem to have about what I'm trying to tell you. If what I say seems
forced at all, and isn't as fluid or natural, then it might be a lie.
So if I ask you to tell me your real age, and then to tell me two other
ages that you felt you could pass for. It wouldn't be hard to
determine which was your real age, and even if you wrote them all down
on paper I could still determine it from your handwriting.
And we also have a natural guage of this sort about our own
impressions, and not just the impressions we pick up from other people.
Whenever you have an idea, a plan, or an impulse, part of you decided
if it is right or wrong. Part of you decides if what you are doing is
going to benefit you or if it is going to be too much trouble to make
it worthwhile. We don't always listen to these impressions, but that
part of us is called our conscience. And it is actually what geniuses,
and psychics are listening to. It is coming from our intuitive and
imagainative side. The right hemisphere of our brain!
And the right hemisphere has a language of its own. If you are
thinking about the future, you don't have to know exactly where you
will be. Maybe you can't name the exact date, or the exact date you
will find true love. But you know that it will be happening very soon,
and you expect your true love to be quite beautiful and intelligent.
And you feel you will know her when you will see her. And when this
idea pops into your head, you run it through your conscience, and it
all checks out. Most people are somewhat skepitcal they have the
abillity to know for sure, so you might be nervous. But if it doesn't
feel like an opinion, or belief, that you are simply holding for one
reason or another, and your conscience is telling you it will happen.
Then simply recognizing that and being conscious of it is enough to
take advantage of the situation, and meet that love!
And perhaps after your first date, you are walking along the street
with your new partner. And it is late at night. Maybe you can tell
just because of the air, that something is wrong in the area. It might
just be that the weather has been unsually warm and you think it is odd
you haven't seen more people walking along this particular street. So
you start to feel a little paranoid. Now if you let this fear take
over and you really believed in it, then it would be just another
opinion that wasn't any use to you. But if you listen to your
conscience it is telling you that this idea is only one possibility,
and you can change it. So what you do is decide to drive back home and
get off the street, and nothing goes wrong to ruin your date.
Manipulating luck and fortune is very easy once you understand the
language of the subconscious, and how to listen to your own instincts.
The subconscious wants evidence naturally, but it really doesn't care
what the evidence is. As long as you provide some reason it will
believe you, even if that reason is only your instincts, or the fact
that some signal is giving you certain impressions. You don't even
have to do the work consciously. The more you practice, the better you
get at unconsciously manipulating the circumstances around you in the
ways you want to, and figuring out what is the best thing to do next.
When you know you have it right, your whole body will move as if it is
absolutely confident it knows what to do, and knows how to do it.
Everything you say will sound completely convincing and be totally
honest. And even if you are just taking a guess, your right brain will
over ride your left brains detailed circutry. And while you may just
be thinking along general lines, once the details come to the surface
it will be a positive experience.
You can even preform magic tricks simply by influencing luck and
fortune. If you have a deck of tarot cards, or even a regular deck of
cards then just find one card that you like more than all the others.
Put it in the deck, and begin shuffling the deck of cards overhanded.
Don't do a riffle shuffle, just cut the deck with one hand while
holding it in the other. It is one of the easiest ways to shuffle, and
it is better for the cards. Now all you have to do is start fanning
through the deck, a few cards at a time. And stop when you feel you
have got to your card. My guess is you have got fairly close to your
And with practice you can do this trick with a real person present, who
is acting as the spectator. Just by listening to your natural
instincts, and letting the language of the subconscious take control.
It really isn't any different than knowing where the card is in the
deck to begin with, and marking the spot off in the deck with your
finger. And then forcing the person to pick the card, by guiding them
to it. That trick is called the "Classic Force".
