I have a sony vaio. I am dual booting with Kubuntu Linux, and Windows
7 (soon will downgrade to xp sp3). In my work place we are allow to
bring laptop, and after certain hours we can use our laptop, and
connect to the routher (wired)..
For some reason I am unable to get a surf the internet. I get ping
from the routher, but that's about it..
They have this VDSL twin modem, connected to a router (port 1 & 2), my
fellow workers bring their computer (windows vista mostly), and they
get a full stream of connection, yet I don't get anything... Once in a
blue moon I get full internet connection but that's about it...
Today, my windows 7 internet icon was saying -- connected to internet,
but I couldn't surf. Samething with linux...
Why?
I would guess the DHCP on the router isn't good enough on giving out the
nameservers, I suggest you take a look at your tcp/ip settings in microsoft
and type down the ip of the nameservers and then manually add those to the
/etc/resolve.conf in kubuntu.
